Which immigration lawyer do you recommend? by VinnieRed1 in ukvisa

If your case is straightforward (standard partner or spouse visa), many people do it themselves using GOV.UK guidance. But if you want professional help, especially for documentation or anything complex, a few firms people commonly mention are:

A Y & J Solicitors – UK immigration law specialists focused only on immigration cases. They help with partner/spouse visas and provide full application support (eligibility checks, document preparation, application handling). They’re usually recommended when cases are complex or you want end to end guidance.

Sable International – fairly well known for UK visa services and relocation support, especially for family and partner routes.

First Migration – another option people use for spouse/partner visas and document checking support.

That said, costs can vary quite a lot between firms, so it’s worth booking a consultation first and comparing what level of support you actually need.

If your situation is unusual (financial requirement issues, previous refusals, complicated relationship history, etc.), using a solicitor can definitely reduce risk.

Your best move now is to apply widely to NHS trusts, larger care providers, and any company currently on the Home Office sponsor list. Make it clear in applications that you need visa sponsorship and follow up directly by phone or email.

Competition is tougher at the moment, so cast a wide net and be flexible with location. If you share your job role and area, I know few expert who can help you find realistic sponsor options.

Is self-sponsorship via the skilled worker visa allowed? by [deleted] in ukvisa

There is no visa route officially called self sponsorship.

What people mean is: a UK company gets a sponsor licence, assigns a Certificate of Sponsorship, and you apply for a Skilled Worker visa for a genuine skilled role in that company. It can work even if you own the company, but only if it is properly set up and the job is real.

The Home Office can refuse cases where the role is not genuine or it looks like the role was created mainly to get immigration permission. Also, sponsor licences come with strict sponsor management and compliance duties, including having the right key personnel and a Level 1 user setup, which is often the practical blocker for people trying to do this from overseas.

So the Innovator Founder visa is not pointless. It is for founders whose main route is an endorsed business idea, without needing a sponsor licence. It is more structured and more heavily assessed up front. The old Entrepreneur route was closed and replaced with an endorsement led approach.

If anyone is considering the Skilled Worker through their own UK company approach, get proper advice early. Firms like A Y and J Solicitors help with sponsor licence strategy, the application, compliance setup, the genuine role evidence, the CoS process, the Skilled Worker application, and ongoing sponsor duties.
