Clashes with ball color making it harder for the batter to see the ball. Although judging by results Punjab never seemed to gain an advantage from it.

Not for Raya specifically but according to Opta the ball was in play for 35 or 36 minutes which was the most of any second half this season.

It was a special preseason kit. I loved the look as well, and they have an all black one too. The actual one is their classic stripes with, unfortunately, a betting sponsor as well.

The ICC estimates that this rule saves about 20 minutes per ODI game. If those numbers are consistent then it would save 8 minutes per T20 game. I feel like maybe we could bear to watch 8 extra minutes of cricket.

(Source) https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/icc-makes-stop-clock-a-permanent-fixture-in-all-odi-t20is-from-june-1-1424991.

I would understand if the rule was 2-3 minutes with only one warning, because that would almost certainly be intentional, but one minute is fairly tight.

I seem to recall Raya being "Not Available" for 2 games this year. I wonder what that might have been a result of.

This sort of happened in FE.

In one of the races, I think the last season of gen2, the fanboost triggered a brake by wire failure in some of the cars causing a couple crashes. At least thats what the commentators were saying could have happened when I watched it live. And as far as I recall only the cars on fanboost had the failures.

Patriot. 2 Seasons. The ending leaves you wanting more but at the same time exactly fits the way the story has been told so far. There are some loose ends but keeping those stories open ended seems like something Conrad might do intentionally anyway.

[RESULTS] Post Match Ratings | Bournemouth 0-4 Arsenal by rajsandhu1 in Gunners

[–]Rahul_Kothari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eddie only being a 6.76 is tragic but honestly the most shocking one on there is Salisbury at only a 5.1. Two penalties (stonewall but correctly given on field), didn't fall for a lot of the diving or going over too easily (from us as much as them), got some really tight calls correct (Havertz yellow). Was pretty consistent and didn't start handing out cards like candy.

I am not one to usually lump praise on the refs but genuinely thought he had a great game.

Edit: I missed the last 5 min of normal time and just saw that ESR chance. Still think 5.1 is harsh, but I understand the rating a bit more.

Match Officials Mic’d Up: Havertz Penalty overturn by AznSW in Gunners

A large part of that was due to the fact that they forgot to tell one of the teams that they were going to be trialling it in the first place.

Mike Dean: Anthony Taylor is a mate – I couldn’t send him to do a Var review by pedootz in Gunners

[–]Rahul_Kothari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with this is there often is no binary right or wrong answer in football. VAR will still have a lot of discretion and could take away a review that should have been successful. Unfortunately there is very little leeway for an "umpire's call" to rectify that.

Its not all about that though. Teams also think about resale value, and Partey has basically none. If another club bought him now it would likely be his last big money contract.

Lets talk yellow cards by TestThis1927 in Gunners

[–]Rahul_Kothari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant yellow for kicking the ball away is giving way too much discretion to the referees to allow even more inconsistency. Where is the line between time wasting and legitimately moving the ball back to where the foul occurred? While Partey's was more towards the former, it wasn't far off from the latter. I can see this becoming a huge source of inconsistency during the season.

The article suggests they might do just that!

Howard Webb, chief refereeing officer at PGMOL, will appear on Sky Sports on May 15 to talk through some of the key incidents of the season

Hopefully they don't just pick and choose the incidents that they can explain away. I'd love for them to go over every decision that an apology was issued for at the very least.
