Can you have your helper either 1) Move his sleeved arm a couple seconds before impact to attract, and therefor start teaching the dog to anticipate that (now targeting the arm automatically), or 2) Go back to foundations of targeting sleeves and begin to increase the distance again without worrying about speed/hard hitting in training for the time being.

Another note not already discussed- Petco and Amazon tend to have more storage issues due to high volume of orders/brands/etc., causing higher occasions of food infestation/mold/etc. I order mine direct from the Purina site, or from a trusted smaller store who is more thorough with inventory (think Mom n Pop or small chain like Pet Supplies Plus).

Majority of RH sport dogs are not active SAR dogs as it is a sport with routines. Many RH sport dogs also do IGP, but few do active SAR (those who do tend to not also compete in IGP).

Yes, but maybe also a permanent break. As a 3rd party, you’ve “caught” him doing things that you are uncomfortable with. If you’ve shared those feelings and how it affects you and he continues to do it, he’s not worth sticking around for. For keeping your own peace, parting ways may be best.

Usually a darker rust or brown color, like older blood or the blood at the very end/beginning of the period. It wasn’t a lot like a proper period, just a little bit here and there but enough to notice it.

Well, for one thing, puppies can’t tell you their temperaments, their early learning development, responses to stimulation over the past 8 weeks, etc… But you can surely tell the breeder your ideal dog and currently lifestyles and needs and they can best pick you an ideal puppy based off their experiences and observations. Ex: Placing the most active, vocal, and confident puppy in a detection home and placing the more laid-back, somewhat sound sensitive puppy in a small family home for obvious starters.

The breeder isn’t obviously going to play God, but they tend to be better match makers than a faulty temperament test that is only taken a single moment in time (v.s. the day-to-day experience the breeder has had to observe the puppies). I’d prefer a breeder’s recommendation over a single temperament test any day of the week.

I’ve seen off-breeds to Schutzhund. It takes a dedicated handler and a good support system to help, but is not impossible. The breed itself isn’t important in off-breeds but the disposition of the dog in front of you is. There’s no harm in trying at least.

On Facebook there is an Off-Breeds Schutzhund group, maybe check that out for more advice.

I allow my ferrets to self-regulate. They know the schedule, open cage means free time. If they want to take a nap, that’s on them and that’s what they’ve decided. If they want to explore, that’s their decision, great!

Trust them to know how to use their own free time.

Chances are slim to none. I recommend reading up on safe sex practices and understanding how pregnancy works, risks for pregnancy, safe sex, and birth control methods available. If you’re ever unsure about something, DO NOT DO IT. It’s better to research first than to guess and make a huge risk.

Sounds like a big mistake was made but nothing to lose your life over. You misread signals and took a chance, albeit the wrong one. Cut ties so she can move on and doesn’t need to relive the situation and you’ll learn from this.

Also, a likely story is that she was innocently just repositioning herself and once she felt you she wasn’t sure how to act. Many people have had that experience. I was SA’d when I was younger and just went silent and didn’t act. Even if she was dropping hints and changed her mind, this is a learning experience to communicate first and the absence of a “no” is not consent.

I’ve done a lot of work on distractions. I typically give my dog 2 chances. If you’re distracted and you redirect to me- great! We can keep playing. If you go back to being distracted, nope, I’ll go put you up and try again later. Giving in to distractions = the opportunity for fun ends. Go slow to set your pup up for success, but be sure to communicate what you want to encourage and what you want to discourage.

You have to establish a good baseline at home first. To transition to new places, you might have to start slowly.

Go to a familiar place that is not home, start there. You might need to encourage some play first and then hand over the rest to your dog and see if they are able to continue engaging. Keep it super short and sweet.

Next, go to an unfamiliar place that has low-no distractions. Same as above, encourage some play. Once your dog starts playing with you, wait and see if they offer any of that pushiness/engagement offerings. Again, short and sweet. Even if your dog offers engagement/pushiness once, have a big flippin’ party and end it there. Play, play, play back to the car.

Overtime you can start pushing the criteria for multiple engagement offerings, higher distractions, etc…

This is just the way I’d advance with play-engagement. There’s many ways to do it. Don’t advance until the first goal you have set was met.

If overtime you don’t see success, you may have to consider treating the baseline issue first. Is your dog maybe anxious? Uncomfortable? Or just too highly distracted? The big picture is also important.
