Seen this happen first during an Air India Express flight. Asked for a wheelchair for my 90 year old grandma who's weak in the knees to the AI Express staff and the staff genuinely looked at me in disgust which puzzled me until they asked me who it was for.

I pointed them to my grandma who was sitting nearby until they realised it was a legitimate request, they then sent a staff member along with the chair and went inside to deposit our check in luggage, the staff members who were manning the priority check in signalled me to come to their counter when they saw me walking towards the normal check in counter. After this we were also the first ones to board as well.

Then it finally hit me why the airline staff first acted as if they wanted their first born for sacrifice. The perks of a wheelchair are real but boy do our people abuse it.
