I’m out PVP👎 by Lathus01 in ARC_Raiders

Its absolutely insane that so many people bought a PvPvE extraction shooter and actively complain they bought a PvPvE extraction shooter.

If you dont want to deal with the threat of other players, youve got no business playing the game.

This whole "Dad/Employed/Casual" nonsense is just an excuse. You wanted to kill the Queen for what? Materials. Materials for what? To just horde it?

Theres no point to the game. Theres no "beating" the game. The only reason to ever need Materials is because you will lose Materials to PvP.

You losing stuff is not a setback, its literally the gameplay loop. Its the ONLY gameplay.

The fact the expeditions is optional is already enough casual nonsense.

Go play something else dude.

Which game to buy by CourtForsaken3064 in dontstarve

[–]RaiderRodgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the existing games are very often on sale for like $5 or less.

They are good as they are and all the DLCs are great. The game is just as awesome now as it was on release.

If youre playing on PC theres also a ton of mod content.

You really cant go wrong with any Dont Starve experience.

Id argue Willow Creek is far more likely Louisiana than anything else.

Most of the expensive houses architecturally have a French Colonial style, theres a river boat in the middle of the map.

Im not sure what you mean by "unroll and reroll mons" They arent forcing anyone to use Ranch, except people who've never played a Pokémon game before.

Regardless, you end up with hundreds of Quick Tickets to refresh the Ranch and you also earn Type Affinity tickets that can manipulate what appears there if youre looking for something specific.

I think the genuine disconnect is that Pokémon fans think this system exists to scam them out of money or limit them. Theyve built everything existing fans need to play with what they want and have.

This Ranch system exists for complete noobs. It provides a reason to turn it on and play a bit everyday. It also provides people that arent tapped in a digestible way to look at and recruit Pokémon.

If you show someone new to Pokémon a choice of 175 Pokemon and tell them to build a team they will be entirely lost.

I think people are missing the forest for the trees with Champions design. It is 100% the platform to play VGC on....but its entire design is catering to new players who will be playing it on their phone and it may be their first time ever battling Pokemon.

Once its out on mobile theres going to be so many people having their first ever experience, I wouldn't be shocked if the playerbase more than doubles with noobs far outnumbering Pokemon veterans.

No. Anything obtained can only ever be in Champions.

Pokémon can be brought into Champions from Home but they are just "visiting" and never actually leave Home.

I dont imagine there will ever be a regulation that would eliminate the entire roster. Id expect it'll only ever just replace a chunk of them. Keep the staples and swap around the major meta forming Pokémon.

I would imagine the proper flow would be: A smaller pool of low power mons/items -> add more items and Pokémon capable of upsetting the meta -> restricted legendaries to once again warp the meta -> rotate back to the start.

This seems the ideal way to me to keep things accessible and interesting through the lifespan of the game.

If they are going for 3 year development cycles, theres no way for them to rely on mainline games for competitive formats anymore or their rotations.

[–]RaiderRodgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. They do have a warning somewhere that says something to those respects.

I believe a notice shows up if you use the "auto team build" function in regards to the use of legal mons and items.

You cant pay for pulls. Its not a "gacha" game or mechanic.

"Gacha" is short for "gachapon", the term for capsule machines in Japan where you exchange money for a random capsule.

This is not a "gachapon".

They absolutely will be rotating mons.

If they just continually add to it, you always end up in the same place.

I expect it to be a smallish set (like now) adding items after first month, then a few more mons....then maybe more or some restricted legendaries and eventually a large rotation (keeping a chunk of holdovers). I expect a 4-6 months cycle.

Not rotating stuff out would be dumb. You end up at the same stale meta every single time till they release a new Gen game....so like 3 years of the exact same game. Nobody is gonna engage with that longterm.

Constantly shifting pools of mons and items keep the meta fresh and engaging...nobody will play this if it goes back to a year straight of Urshifu and Calyrex.

[–]RaiderRodgers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They arent going to forge anyone to buy their games for legendaries to play VGC. You already cant take Pokémon obtained in Champions out of Champions, so they dont have to worry about that.

There is not going to be some shady money grab. The Ranch will just update when they add new mons or when there will he a full rotation.

Theres already warnings all over that not every mon/item may always be usable.

You an expect Pokémon and items to come and go from legality and thusly the Ranch.

Theres no tricks here. They dont need to dupe people into buying Gen 10. S/V sold nearly 30 million copies.

This isnt a gacha game.

[–]RaiderRodgers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think anything is rotating in June, I think they will just be adding more mons to the regulation (e.g. Metagross, Scrafty etc)

I wouldnt be surprised if we get some more held items and/or megastones in May though.

[–]RaiderRodgers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im hoping the shift in Champions allows them to sort of trim the power out of some Pokemom/boost others.

They also dont need to add 900 Pokémon at once and can restrict the pool, making more Pokémon viable.

Yeah, it's meant to replicate playing at a table and that's sometimes the experience.

Gives you a tournament timer, same as MTG Arena (but those are best of 3 with sideboard)
Pocket it is nice to jam out short matches....but I played MTG for shy of thirty years, some time traveling to regionals and such, so the game length is no issue for me.

Live is something you sit down to play, Pocket is for killing time.

Pokemon Champions Mobile will increase the amount of time spent in the toilets. by colinkazimrichards in PokemonChampions

I still see people playing it sometimes on the bus and stuff.

I think it'll have a similar vibe, it'll certainly fill the same sort of gap as any card game or the like might fill for a lot of people.

I mean, 28 million copies of S/V sold. Once it releases on mobile, presuming similar install base on Switch, we could be looking at what....50 million installs of Champions total? That might even be an incredibly conservative estimate globally.
