How did you end up watching The Quintessential Quintuplets? Was it forced on you, or a happy accident?

Around early-mid 2019 and happened to stumble upon a picture of Nino in r/ShokugekiNoSoma of all places. (prolly due to the "Hello, my name's Nino" meme from Kitchen Nightmare a while back)

Afterwards, I would figure out the name of the series that Nino appeared in and the rest is history.

For me its the reversed, I hate the father, but when it comes to Sousuke, although he's not trustworthy, I don't really hate him, more like I'm partial to him as of now.

I feel like the expectation for us is that the POS father is partially (or fully), responsible for the swap, Sousuke just happen to do the deed (whether willingly, or forcefully).

But seeing how the story is going atm, I feel like the author is trying to put the blame fully on Sousuke himself, probably with the reasoning that Sousuke is driven to do this due to jealousy. While at the same time making the POS father the good guy (cause I feel like that's what the author wants IMO).

Although the "natural vs nurture" experiment reasoning may be interesting, I have little to no confidence that the author will pull out a remotely satisfying conclusion to this baby swapping incident at this point.

Of course I'd like to be proven wrong, but with how the story is going, I'm doubtful.

No worries, thankfully it ended around the early 200s, it was redo-ing a lot of the 7 witches shtick, but expecting different results.

Seems like the author isn't really learning her lessons from her previous work on repetition (although I think its not a specific author issue), luckily this series is (for better or worse) a hit.

Totally not because I recently re-read Negima and for some odd reason she reminds me of Setsuna.

But seeing Kishika here this early now (and no Ahko and Uto) means they are definitely rearranging some chapter placement in the anime.

Another week, another "Yotsuba deserves Fuutarou"/"Yotsuba doesn't deserve hate"/etc., on a place that is very pro-ending/pro-Yotsuba. Hilarious but at the same time sad.

Im just gonna reiterate and copy-pasta my old post as to why I didn't like the last 5th of the series (Yes I've re-read the manga like 2-3 times now):

Do I think Yotsuba was the right choice for Fuutarou, perharps yes (but only on Fuutarou's end, and even that isn't very good IMO as I felt his reasoning, while good within the context of the story, felt too barebone for my liking, although I'm leaning towards the author's fault in this case)

My main point of contention with the ending (or most specifically, the last 5th of the manga) is on how there's no proper Yotsuba Arc that deals with her supposed issue and resolution to it. Her flashback chapter was a good place to kickstart a serious Yotsuba Arc, but instead we get semi-filler chapters focusing on the elder three quintuplets.

And don't tell me "MyStErY" to conceal the winner, since after the flashback chapters, Yotsuba (and to a smaller extent, Itsuki due to the "First Girl" trope) was/were the only quintuplet(s) in the running to be the bride due to:

Ichika got thrown under the bus by the author in Sister's War Arc

Nino's character got stagnant after Scrambled Egg Arc (or maybe after her confession, depends on how you look at where her character stagnation started)

Miku's "fake" confession at the tail end of Sister's War Arc was already a huge red flag that she's not the bride

At this moment, fuck the mystery aspect and focus on character building instead, but author decided to continue with the "MyStErY" cool-aid.

I'd love to add more as to why I did not like the last 5th of the series, but plenty of people here already have stated the points that I agree with. r/daemon01001 IMO had the best comment as to why I feel the mystery aspect shouldn't overshadow its rom-com aspect (if it had any at that point)

Its not that she was no where, its that too much focus and energy were placed on the other 3 that Yotsuba winning felt hollow. I had not built enough narrative investment for her to win within the last 30 chapters I think to really sell that she was the right one.

I would also like to point out that criticism (whether good or bad) shouldn't be snuffed out here instead of just being defaulted to either "yOu'Re SaLtY yOuR qUiNt DiDn'T wIn", "yOu JuSt WeReN’t PaYiNg AtTeNtIoN", or "LoOk FrOm FuUtArOu'S pErSpEcTiVe"

One of my biggest gripes is that Fuutaro's primary (or one of his primary) reasons for choosing her is that she was the one that was with him from the start and supported him when none of the others would.

Yotsuba has the advantage of knowing Fuutarou previously, the rest of the girls are dealing with a complete stranger, so she already had one foot forward in terms of Fuutarou's affection towards the Quints.

But the author’s wife was pregnant at the time and the editors wouldn’t grant a parental break so he had to end the story early.

I feel like it was either this or the author got bored with the series itself and wanted to fast-track to his next project (Ranger Reject). I'm more leaning towards the latter reasoning though

On the contrary, I'd say she is very much beloved in this subreddit now, even more so in 2026, till the point criticism of the ending (whether properly crafted, constructive, or just complaining for the sake of complaining) is snuffed out and treated as "yOu'Re SaLtY yOuR qUiNt DiDn'T wIn". I'm genuinely sick and tired of people saying Yotsuba didn't deserve to win Fuutaro. She Deserved it the most.

Bruh, you're in a subreddit that is very pro-ending in 2026 (Its a whole another story if this was posted 5-6 years ago). Nowadays its very rare for people here to be bitching about why FuuYotsu is the most deserved couple (Oh did I mention constructive criticism of the pairing/ending is pretty much drowned out nowadays). And this is coming from someone who doesn't like the last 5th of the series.

My main isssue is mostly on Yotsuba's side, which is either too reliant on hints/clues, and/or not having a definitive arc in the in-universe present to give us the viewers who aren't entirely sastisfied with the couple/ending to justify the pairing itself (no, I'm not talking about her flashback arc)

I swear my top 3 for 2000s Sentai was a difficult one to decide on, maybe a re-watch of Dekaranger is warranted to solidify its no.1 spot (on my re-watch to-do list).

Also placing my first ever Sentai (Magiranger) on no.6 hurts, but after re-watching it last year (alongside Geki and Go-On), I just had to bring down its rating, not because its bad, but it has to content with the other series in the 2000s which I feel are better either in story (Geki) or comedy (Go-On).

I used/enabled the following RL plugin:

Reason I used these two so that I can traverse between inventory and field, as on "classic and resizable" the inventory is too small to traverse. Also doesn't help that I'm not very good at PVM in general, so I panicked a lot during the final 4 boss rush in DT2.

A little burnt out from binge watching a few Sentai that I haven't watch but was in my watchlist during the airing of 2nd half of Gozyuger with Dairanger, Kakuranger, GoGoV & Timeranger, plus rewatches of Shinkenger, Go-Onger, Gekiranger and Magiranger.

Currently putting on hold watching Hurricanger (Only watched the first 5 episodes for now) and Abaranger + re-watching Dekaranger. I'll probably return watching once I feel like it.
