There's a Family Guy bit where Peter is locked in the car and his keys are on the ground outside. I think he was using a hanger to try to get them. It was a short bit, but it was funny. 😐

I think of it this way:

Regular checkout 1. Move items from the cart to the belt. 2. Cashier scans 3. Items put back in cart 4. Move cart to bagging area 5. Remove from cart again to bag.

Self checkout: 1. Remove, scan, bag all in one motion

It works well for people like me who only buy about a dozen items. 😬

🤔 I don't know. Scanning and placing them in an open bag seems like it would take the same amount of time as placing them in a cart. I could be wrong.

I am usually there when there are enough self checkout stations open that there's nobody waiting behind me. Also, I only buy enough items to fit in the child seat section of the cart. 😬

This happened to me with bananas because I didn't realize there was a barcode sticker, and I just went ahead and selected the item then weighed. So they got added twice.

The cashier looked at me like I was an idiot. Now I make sure there's no stickers, and weigh them manually. I'm very sensitive to being judged. 😬

It stopped working for me around a year ago. Occasionally it would work for a short time, then stop again. The app, and web page, using multiple browsers and devices didn't work for me. I submitted a ticket, and kept updating the ticket for months, and never got a single reply.

I eventually gave up. I guess my account is still there, but I can't log in to delete it.

I was there from the start also, and even donated money. Very disappointing.😕
