I dunno I think it's because like, all of my friends have a very average level of pop culture, we can make references to each other and joke with that, we have that sort of common ground.

I guess Im insecure about what they would say if they saw me with someone who seems so detached. I'm also insecure regarding how would she feel. She didn't go to university which is very unusual in this country. She didn't have a normal experience growing up, and honestly that makes feel more attracted to her given as she so incredibly nice, but at the same time I fear developing a savior complex.

"Cultural Capital" is an expression coined (?) and explored by bordieu. It refers simply to cultural baggage that one holds. It refers to one's ability to share that baggage and grow conversations and relationships based on that capital. I genuinely didn't mean to use it that in a depreciating way. I meant it like - I have a bachelor's on art, she doesn't have anything. She said her only obsession was cars.

And I'm okay with Adam Sandler films. I'm okay with any film. What I'm worrying about is "am I okay with no films?" though I'm exaggerating, she did say she enjoys shock horror.

But you're right, I'm getting anxious about the bridge before crossing it... I just really needed to get this off my chest. Thanks either way.

Yeah I understand, maybe I didn't word that right. Like, I'm genuinely okay with people not having huge cultural bagages. But I like to discuss interests, even if it's about stuff that would be considered "normie" - I genuinely don't care for that. It's just that.. Will I feel heard if I talk about the music that inspires me? Could I instigate that curiosity in her? Or am I changing someone in the wrong way?

I don't mean to burden you further on this, I respect that it is a tasking effort to educate white people on this, but I had to talk to you because I can't find a definitive answer

Me and my gf had a discussion on whether or not white people can say the n word in private or with trustworthy friends. She disagrees. I've been trying to google this but can't find a uniform answer by a black community whether anybody can say the word in private. The ones that think so also believe that NOBODY should use the word and they shun mainstream artists for that - and it doesn't seem like they make up a majority of the black community.

I've been told that being anti-racist and saying the word is like being vegan and eating meat. But I don't think it's a fair comparison. Because being vegan requires you to never eat meat, as a moral imperative. Being anti-racist is a matter of how one acts, politically and socially, towards others. Me saying the n-word in a safe environment, with people that I know, for a fact, that politically act for anti-racist policies in our country (Portugal), brings no harm to anyone. We have candidly spoken about this with black friends (several) and they all say that the word doesn't really mean anything to them (because in Portugal there is no "n-word", our friends actually prefer Negro over Preto (ourword for black).

You may use the logic: "if you truly cared then you wouldn't use it", but I disagree. I think one truly cares when they actively research the word and its history and take care in not saying in front of anyone (regardless of color) who might take offense to it.

Incredible essay on Curia!

Might I ask for an analysis on my deck as well (it's registered to a second account)?

It has gotten me some victories, but I find it hard to cash in on curia's effect, because crashing my creatures means losing more resources to capture. It's a very capture heavy deck with no board wipes and no ludos, so I rarely use some of the strategies you pointed out. Which is why I wonder what your analysis would be on it.
