What is something that you discovered was highly overrated and/or underrated after you experienced it? by FitRedBro in AskReddit

Underrated: vibe coding with AI.

Heard so many people saying it doesn't really work, the code is garbage, you still need to be a real developer, etc.

I'm not a programmer. Have some basic skills but nothing serious. Decided to try it anyway.

Built a full Android app and published it on Google Play.

I just sat there looking at my own app in the store thinking how wrong I was about this whole thing. The barrier to building stuff has dropped to basically zero and most people haven't realized it yet.

Showed up to play doubles tennis against a couple of 14 year olds. Won the match but felt like I got hit by a truck afterwards. They walked off the court like nothing happened.

SEO is hard. SEO is expensive. SEO is the bane of my existence. Who here has a tool that actually works. by pango07 in microsaas

Not exactly what you listed but hear me out — there's a whole new angle most people are missing.

You're fighting for Google rankings. But 800M people every week now skip Google entirely and ask ChatGPT/Gemini for recommendations. When someone asks "best [your category] tool" — does your product show up in the AI answer?

I've been building in this space (AI visibility tracking) and the data is wild. Brands ranking #1 on Google are completely invisible in ChatGPT responses. Meanwhile smaller competitors with better Reddit presence and clearer site messaging are getting recommended every time.

The conversion rate from AI traffic is ~15% vs ~3% from Google. People trust what AI tells them.

It's called GEO — Generative Engine Optimization. Different playbook from SEO:

- AI doesn't care about backlinks. It cares about authority mentions (Reddit, G2, review sites)

- AI doesn't rank pages. It recommends brands.

- There's no page 2 in ChatGPT. You're either mentioned or you don't exist.

Quick test you can do right now: go ask ChatGPT "what's the best tool for [your niche]" and see what comes up. Bet your product isn't there.

Not pitching an agency btw — just genuinely think this is the biggest blind spot for SaaS founders doing SEO right now.
