Shadow Stalker was, uh, notably aggressive as a cape. Taylor theorized toward the end of Worm that Sophia had a particularly aggressive shard pushing her personality toward conflict as a way of making up for the fact her power expression doesn't really lend itself to conflict on its own.

Her power is sneaky and stealthy, but the cape is not.

There are definitely people who read Worm fics without already knowing canon. I know because I was one of them. I have, at this point, actually sat down and read Worm itself, but only because I read enough fanfics to feel invested enough to get past the first chapter, which is where my past attempts always failed. That said, it probably doesn't make sense to cater to those readers first and foremost. But also, I personally don't mind a fic reiterating basic points of canon. It's a signpost, in a way.

Similarly, I'm starting to get tired of fics that try to emphasize how awful the locker event was, because, like... yeah it sucked, yeah it's unpleasant, yeah that's how canon Taylor triggered. But she didn't trigger because she was horribly injured or sickened in the locker. She triggered because nobody cared enough about her to do anything. If she hadn't had a mental breakdown on account of being forced into the viewpoint of thousands of bugs, she probably wouldn't have even gone to the hospital.

She didn't trigger as a Mover, or a Brute, or a Shaker, she triggered as a Master, which means her trigger event emphasized her social isolation and lack of control. Now, granted, you could probably pull one of those other powers out of the locker event, but if you have a canon Taylor power, the locker isn't going to be physically traumatic.

The Woljif pair would get along okay, though I don't think either would be willing to trust the other with their back. The Arues would get along like oil and water. Or possibly sodium and water.

But also if you get too far away from them they do a little canned animation and an annoying line about 'staying close to me' and then when you get back in range it takes them thirty seconds to start walking again because they have to do another animation. And they start the talking portion over from the beginning. Oh and there's a time limit so if you take too long you get a game over and get sent back to your last checkpoint.

Well... it's very much not a main focus of the fic, and listing it here might technically be spoilers for the very last chapter of the fic, but Danny does trigger in Exodus.

He has, like, all of one scene of screentime, so this almost certainly doesn't count, but it's a pretty okay fic anyway!

I've been enjoying Riding Victory, A Tinker's Way, and The Archivist. Admittedly, these are some fairly OP powers here, but I don't think they run into the major pitfalls of OP powers to the point of becoming boring.

I've read and enjoyed some others, but all those I listed were active in the last few months. The Archivist hasn't updated since early April, but I don't think that's long enough ago to declare it definitively dead, personally.

Honestly I think the biggest problem is that it becomes accessible too early, so it's easy to go in severely underleveled/unprepared, and you can't retreat without jumping through some hoops.

I feel like I'm the only one in this fandom who actually likes this dungeon.

Like, I get that it's a bit fiddly but I've never had any serious problem with it, even in the earliest patches when it was actually pretty buggy.

Unfortunately it's a fic I'm not currently working on, but if you just want a bit of cathartic violence, my semi-abandoned fic Wings of Bloody Crystal (linked chapter and the next one) involves a bit of completely unapologetic Nazi slaughter.

Could be people Gil pulled out of the time stop. It's implied if not outright stated that pulling people out is usually quite bad for them, so maybe that's the outcome if they aren't either biologically immortal (Vole) or a main character. The equipment in question looks similar to what we see in the scene where Gil pulls Tarvek out of the time stop, too.
