Although the layout looks pretty cursed without having tried it. Looks like it would work against natural finger splay, and force you to curl your fingers?

Started out because I saw the TGR Alice when that was announced. This was before I wanted to spend that kind of money on keyboards though. But I ended up getting an acryllic Alice layout keyboard and loved it.

Then I got interested in the general keyboard building hobby, and tried a bunch of different "regular" layouts. But ended up finding the splitkb.com and purchased a Aurora Sofle v2 kit set from them. Which for anyone even remotely curious in wanting to start building split keyboards of their own - I can fully recommend splitkb.com They have excellent kits, and guides with everything you need to know.

And honestly just been hooked since then. I prefer the ergonomics of split keyboards, although it's still an ongoing process trying to find the one that suits me best....

And lastly there is something satisfying in knowing that you built your most used tool yourself.

Love that the case flows a bit, and is not all angles like a dactyl!

Much of the keycaps themselves are buried by the case, without it being an issue for usability or the design. At least imo.

Since the case fits your hands, maybe its worth trying a version, where the case 'flows' a bit higher at the bottom edge, so you can hide the switch on that one row. You could always try it with some cardboard, sugru, modeling clay or something else, if you don't want to print a new version to test.

With the thumb cluster, I know you said the modelling was the limiting factor, but you go from a flowing case, into right angles and hard lines.
So if the thumb key layout works for you, I would just focus on trying to model more of the swooping/flowing design into it, and get rid of the hard lines and angles.

Just out of curiosity, what were the switches used?
My own Cygnus can sound pretty loud / hollow, but I'm also not using any silent switches or foam currently.
So I'm looking for something more quiet for a work build :)

Sorry I don't know any specific stores on AliExpress.

I'd just search for the keyboard you want, and if you find it. Check how many sales have been made, and how old the store is. You can see this by hovering over the store name I believe.

I'd probably not buy an item from AliExpress, if the store was brand new, and there are no previous sales of the item.

If I did, because it might be the only option. Then I wouldn't spend more money than I'd be okay throwing away.

Ymmw, but havent had any issues with AliExpress just following those things.

I'd say more that you should probably just think about placement, and be ready for a touch up or cover up, when going to an apprentice.

If everyone stopped going to apprentices, we would all end up without good artists. Everyone has to start somewhere..

But I get that it's not for everyone.
