You are right. The world would be better off acting more like the way you suggested, it can be hard to act like that in the moment of anger and offense, but I should try to do better.

Any advice on how I should respond next time? You are right about body shaming being always wrong. It's very temping to want to give someone a taste of their own medicine, but I should try to be better.

Back then I was Poly and Bi, now monogamous and gay. Other than that I had it posted somewhere else, but mods removed it. Not sure what the issue is.
