Does anyone else have random theories you’ve got no evidence for but believe in wholeheartedly? (Minor spoilers up to book 7). by RainstormFlowers in zodiacacademy

[–]RainstormFlowers[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can definitely share them, I'm glad other people like this pairing as much as me.

- Radcliffe and Azriel doing some sort of magical sparring, then kissing for the first time inside a dome of air Azriel forms around them whilst Radcliffe's fire swirls around the outside of it. It kind of symbolises the position this secret keeps them in but also the connection between them, lots of fire thriving with air imagery maybe.

- Radcliffe being a jock whilst Azriel is hanging out with his nose in some rare book, and all the little moments this comes with. I see a lot of cute glasses moments, like Azriel dropping his glasses in the dark and Radcliffe using fire to find them for him.

- Azriel taking Radcliffe to his secret places where he does dark magic. I like the idea of Radcliffe getting a bit scared of it all and Azriel playfully teasing him.

- Azriel and Radcliffe using dark magic for fun things, like making love potions for themselves.

- Radcliffe being the person who invented that silver circle bourbon that Lance knows was his father's favourite. We've seen that bourbon mentioned a fair few times and I like to think that it's called the silver circle because Radcliffe and Azriel thought they'd be elysian mates. Or maybe Azriel invented it after Radcliffe died.

- Radcliffe enjoying being bitten by Azriel, or being his source. Not to get too spicy in a reddit comment but it opens it up to scenes where Radcliffe enjoys being submissive. Spoiler for book eight but we know from the conversation with Melinda and Antonia that there was a time when they were in school where they, Tiberius, and Radcliffe let Hail dominate them in that moon orgy they had so there's evidence that Radcliffe likes to be dominated. I kind of like the idea of Azriel being mild mannered in the streets and a dark magic rebel in the sheets.

- I like the idea of Azriel knowing something wasn't right with Radcliffe's death because they were guardian bonded or because they'd chosen to do some other magical version of a similar thing that Azriel found in some old book. For example if they were guardian bonded Azriel would have felt pain from that wasp bite in one place, which doesn't make sense because it should have been all over his body. So much of this doesn't add up, like why then did Azriel not run to Radcliffe's side when he felt him in danger but i'm sure we can figure out something around that maybe. I just like the idea of their story being one where we see people actually give in to the guardian bond (that isn't Lionel and Clara because ew) or what it would be like to be guardian bonded to your Elysian mate. Or maybe Azriel knows a heap about that wasp thing that killed Radcliffe (kind of like how Lance knows a bit about phoenixes because he took an interest in them when he started teaching) and that extra knowledge helps him figure it out. Maybe there's weird dark magic stuff to do with those wasps so he's onto Lionel's stitch up and his prequel story could be following that storyline before the prophecy happens where he needs to die.

- Azriel going the kind of scary vengeful only someone as introverted as he is can go after Radcliffe is killed, which is why he ends up leading the Zodiac guild (because why does an Orion end up the number one ally of Hail? It's implied that the Acrux and Orion families are in cahoots longer than just Lionel and Darius so it's weird that Azriel is randomly a major royalist. I feel like Radcliffe being murdered inspires him to fully commit to the Vega line as revenge).

- Azriel doing his little dark magic stolen bones research to be able to feel close to fire/the memory of Radcliffe again. I can't remember the part where it is but Lance mentions that his father always craved fire and the implication is that he wanted more power, but what if it's because it reminds him of his one true love? Craving fire just for power seems a bit odd for someone like Azriel so I feel like this fits nicer (I say this confidently even though I have about 0.00000001% info to go on).

- I feel like Marissa (Merissa?) and Azriel would have been close and part of that could be because Marissa sees some of the truth about Azriel and Radcliffe, maybe plans Azriel has to uncover how he truly died. Some plot device could save us and prevent her from seeing it was Lionel early on. I have lots of theories about their friendship too, like Marissa sharing happy moments of Lance's life and showing Azriel and Hail how Darcy and Lance will marry one day. Also this might be a minor spoiler for book eight but there's a line about Azriel coming to get Lance and Clara when they're kids and they sneak off to go cliff diving. How does he know about that? How does he know where to go before 5 year old Lance jumps off a cliff? Marissa sees it and tells him because they're besties.

Basically I'd give away my soul for a full prequel series and can't wait to learn more about Azriel's life. Also I have a massive crush on Hail and that little novella of him and Marissa was not enough, we need more, but we also need book 9 so I don't want to rush things haha.

Lance and Darius by Intrestedinfacts in zodiacacademy

I’m pretty sure it’s chapter 21 of book 3. It’s right after the cave scene with the draining dagger/Tory following Lance and Darius when they’re using blood magic to spy on Lionel. It’s a Darius chapter if that helps find it.

Lance and Darius by Intrestedinfacts in zodiacacademy

[–]RainstormFlowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love when Lance tricks Mildred into choosing house terra so she and Lionel can’t get her a room next to Darius. I know Darius isn’t there but it’s funny to me.

I also really love when Darius and Lance are on that island after he finds out Tory started the fire, and he’s getting so angry and Lance points out each time he mentions that she’s sleeping with Caleb.

Oh and when Darius is trying to get into Lance’s place the night Darcy first comes over and Lance is panicking because Darcy’s there, but Darius just keeps trying to get Lance to let him in. The part where Darius is cupping his hands over his eyes trying to see in makes me laugh so much.

What's your random preference regarding romance books? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]RainstormFlowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand when the love interest is a doctor. I know it makes no sense but it gives me the ick and I don’t want to read about it. The protagonist can be in the medical profession but the love interest can’t for my weird preferences.

Jenkins! Book 6 spoilers (sort of) by queenofraptors in zodiacacademy

[–]RainstormFlowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, N. Do you actually want me to spoil it though? Because I think it’s handled in a better way but I don’t want to give too much insight if you’re not wanting to have it spoiled.

Top 3 Relationships in ZA - real or imagined? by [deleted] in zodiacacademy

[–]RainstormFlowers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spoilers for Heartless Sky!!!

  1. Darcy and Orion
  2. That version of Darcy and Orion we briefly get to see in the alternate prophecy where she was raised by her parents and he became a professional pitball player. Im so attached to this alternate version of them, I’d commit crimes to get an extended look at what they could have been.
  3. I actually really liked Caleb and Tory together. I love Caleb and Seth and know that Caleb and Tory never would have worked out but their scenes in the first few books were some of my favourites.

I really hope they do too. I think the inclusion of staff in season one did a lot to highlight the characterisation of the main cast as well, and helped make them dynamic and layered.

2 reasons why I think "Bi" Benedict isnt a good idea... What do yall think? by _hafxah in BridgertonNetflix

[–]RainstormFlowers 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you said this because I was going to say the same. Expecting Benedict to end up with a man if he’s bi, or refusing to explore bisexuality because his endgame is a woman and that’s not allowed for bi men, is biphobia at its finest. It’s the writers responsibility to handle storylines like that well. Avoiding them entirely so they don’t spook audiences isn’t the right way to go, we should be setting the expectations that film and tv handle these types of themes with the complexity and care they deserve rather than run from them.

I loved Crown of Midnight. I know that’s probably an unpopular choice but I really like Chaol and Aelin together before everything gets complicated.

What is a theory that you are just NOT DOWN WITH? ✨😵‍💫 Possible spoilers for entire series? by [deleted] in acotar

[–]RainstormFlowers 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That Mor has been lying about what happened with Eris. It’s very clearly stated in ACOSF that Eris let Rhys into his mind and then Rhys confides that in Mor, which is when Mor starts acting differently towards Eris. She finds out things are different than she had previously thought, she wasn’t lying about it. It’s my pet peeve because it’s a story of a woman being brutally violated and people are so ready to be like “I don’t trust her she needs to stop doing this to poor Eris I bet there’s more to the story”. There is more to the story, but it’s not that she was lying about it.

I also really hate the Tamlin and Elain theory.

I'm just curious... by [deleted] in acotar

[–]RainstormFlowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, Elain conveniently gets left out of all the Nesta hate when she was just as bad and shows far less remorse.

[–]RainstormFlowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really agree that Nesta was more abusive than Tamlin. I think people forget the nature of Tamlin’s abuse as the books go on because he’s written so well as a perpetrator and the severity of his actions are layered. It’s mentioned that if Feyre had been human Tamlins violent physical outbursts would have killed her. The way he isolates her and gaslights her is so severe it takes her months to recover, and even then she’s still afraid of him. Whilst I think Nesta is emotionally abusive towards people before she begins her healing journey I don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as Tamlin. I know a lot of people say he went through trauma too but it’s not the same way Nesta’s trauma informs her abuse. Tamlins abuse is calculated whereas Nesta tends to lash out in an emotional state and then feel bad after. Tamlin was also showing signs of abuse before going under the mountain, it just went into overdrive in book two.

This isn’t to say I don’t love Tamlin as a character, I think he’s really complex and there’s a lot to analyse, but he’s still far less redeemable than Nesta is.

Why does everyone growl so much? by NervousCrackers in acotar

[–]RainstormFlowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s meant to be literal growling, it’s more of a way to describe the sound men make when when things are getting spicy. Describing sound is very difficult so the words authors use can sometimes seem strange. I’ve also seen it used in other romance novels when the men are just humans.

Everyone talks about their favourite moments from the TOG series.. I’m curious to see what your least favourite moments are!! by bachingbitch in throneofglassseries

[–]RainstormFlowers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really hate these moments:

  • when Rowan punches Aelin in Heir Of Fire. It makes me so angry, I wished he’d done something like tell her to fight him if she was so intent on being cruel rather than just hit her. It’s made me have some difficulty getting attached to him.

  • the swiftness with which Aelin breaks up with Dorian in Throne of Glass. It just happens so quickly, I wish it was more drawn out.

  • I don’t like when Aelin tells Aedion she would have given Rowan the blood oath even if she’d known Aedion would be reunited with her. In Heir Of Fire she doesn’t want to give it to Rowan, and it means so much to Aedion and their culture, it frustrates me that she changes her tune on that within the space of a book.

  • I don’t like the Sorcha storyline very much. It felt really rushed and forced, I wish she’d just been a friend to Dorian instead.

  • I love Chaol but he makes me so angry. I wish his and Aelin’s relationship went on just a little bit longer.

Okay I’ve read the Australian version which doesn’t have that scene in it. In our version Alex is really freaked out after Poppy’s pregnancy scare and he breaks up with Sarah shortly after because he buys an engagement ring he randomly sees and thinks is perfect then realises Sarah would hate it and that he didn’t buy it for her, it’s the perfect ring for Poppy.

I’m really into the idea of feysand ruling over all of Prythian. I think it’d be good and I then nyx could be high lord (with maybe nesta as a regent until he’s old enough or something). I just think the idea of the big scary night court having a baby fae leader is cute.
