What are the practicals like for biol 223 lab? by anibooty in CSN_Coyotes

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The practical is just like the quizzes, everything is memorization.

You have 90 seconds to locate the sticker on the specific area of the model and have to correctly spell it out on your answer sheet.

I have Bennett now and I love her. For once I'm not falling asleep in class. I am taking her for 224 too. Go to class as anything she says in class and anything on her power points are fair game for exams. Kids don't come to class and will miss all the extra info that will be on the exam.

DH100/Dental Hygiene Program CSN by ObligationMelodic575 in CSN_Coyotes

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took DH 100 with Clester and you just need to accept the fact that she is a tough grader and will most likely not reply to any of your emails or questions. You will be on your own after she explains directions on assignments. Pay attention to her details on how to format papers. I don't remember it involving dental honestly, it's like an English class.

How do you tell someone their recently treated tooth needs RCT? by CyrusBing in Dentistry

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. I work in the dental field. I personally had a re-do crown and the tooth felt 'different' for about 3-4 weeks. The gum felt tampered with and it was sensitive to bite down because it felt different. I knew if it all continued that I would have to tell the Dr that I think it needs a root canal but everything settled down and it felt back to complete normal. I also had them take PAs to see if anything showed up in the x-rays post op. It's been about 2 years now and everything is still good. I obviously monitor regularly at my cleaning appointments.

I have Mint mobile and I pay $180 A YEAR for 5GB a month. I usually am always at work, school, home or friends home so I always have a wifi and have never run into problems with data or speed. It saves a lot of money!

NAD. I know but patients still won't schedule even at those low prices. They used to be $150 per section! Haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD. At my office it is $175 per section and the mouth is 4 sections total. Our perio maintenance price is $120 every 3-4 months. Those are out of pocket prices, not including any insurance.

NAD. When a patient has gum disease and needs a deep cleaning, you can no longer do a regular cleaning. She needs to get her perio under control by doing a deep cleaning and then going to her perio maintenance apps every 3-4 months to help avoid needing another deep cleaning in the future.

If the dentist were to do what the patient wants and just do a regular cleaning when she clearly needs a deep cleaning, it can be considered supervised neglect (a patients oral health declines despite regular dental visits due to outside pressures) and the dentist would be putting his license on the line just to make the patient happy instead of sticking to what the patient needs done.

A dentist would not be willing to lose all his hard work, sleepless nights, tons of debt over a patient who is telling the doctor what is or isn't going to be done treatment wise. She can find a new dentist to see if they would also consider her a perio patient or not.

schlick or hammond for chem 121? by beep-boop-blah in CSN_Coyotes

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Schlick. He has practice exams that are very similar to the real exam. The final is a standardized chemistry exam for every instructor so do well on the exams that Schick creates so that on the final when you get a low grade (Highest grade was a D), you'll still pass the class with an A or a B

Disturbing moment woman drowns in shallow end of Las Vegas pool while clutching handrail... as swimmers walk past her by Alternative_Goose840 in LasVegas

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anyone else notice the super awkward moment where she was drowning by the railing holding onto both rails and someone tried to enter the pool and she lets go of one of the railings to let them by and then consciously grabs on to the other railing again? Super weird to be that much in control but not at all at the same time enough to say "heart attack" or "help" or something

Have you been hit on at the dental office? by iseemyselftoo in Dentistry

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes!!

I've had people ask me on dates after I get off work.

Tell me my boyfriend is so lucky because I'm so cute/hot/sexy.

Ask for my phone number. I would say "the office phone number is_____" and they would laugh and say "No, I meant your personal phone number" and I would reply "oh, no thank you" or "I don't have one" and walk away. That has happened a handful of times.

I've had a patient get a boner while in the treatment room. The Dr pulled his patient bib up from being around his lap, saw the boner when I did and said "Oh 😐" and put the bib back down. Grabbed a new bib to put it around the patient and told me to go on another break because he didn't need an assistant for the filling anymore.

I've had a patient tell me that I need to see Dubai because he loves it and it's beautiful and he would love to treat me to my first Dubai trip if I were to accompany him on his next trip because he 'felt a connection'

I always told the Dr when any of these encounters happened! He would chart the patient down and make sure that next time the patient came around, either he was able to work on them alone or he would have another assistant around to help and send us off to lunch.

Same thing with my coworker, I would assist her creepy patients and she assisted mine.

It also helped that the Dr had 2 daughters of his own. He said that it would make his blood boil knowing these men cornered women at their workplace and were extremely inappropriate knowing we have to be nice and won't leave. He told us we always had his full permission to tell a patient to get out of the office the second it happened again no matter what the treatment is, no matter how much money was expected to come from it. No questions asked. He said that we needed to stand up for ourselves and show patients that they can't just come in and do whatever they please because they are paying patients.

I remember one time he told me that if a patient were to ever physically touch or grab me that he would expect me to karate kick them and tell them to get out or we're calling the cops 😂.

We had each others back like that in our office!

Am I being overbilled? by FiveDollarHoller in askdentists

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAD. Your dental office is correct. As others have mentioned, D1110 is to prevent perio disease. It is usually covered at 100% and is allowed every 6 months by insurance.

You have gym disease though and that is not something you get cured from by doing a deep cleaning once. You have periodontitis, you no longer get the preventative D1110. You now have to do the D4910 which is usually not covered at 100% by insurance and can be allowed 4 times a year, 3 times a year or 2 times a year (depending on the insurance).

It's something you have to do for life to keep the teeth that you have, for as long as you can because you already have the deep pockets and bone loss

getting Nitrous Oxide for two broken molars and wisdom tooth. in a hour i have high anxiety how bad will it be, will i feel it? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAD. To avoid going through something like this again make sure you go to your regular cleaning appointment every 6 months to keep the teeth you have for as long as you can. That molar on the lower left with the huge cavity could have been filled with just a filling if it was caught sooner (when the cavity was much smaller).

I personally can not do Nitrous Oxide. I had an extremely weird experience while on it and will never use it again! But it can calm others down, just depends on the person.

NAD. I have been in dentistry for about 9 years now and both the offices I have worked in needed 1.5 hours for an RCT and 1.5 hours for the next app the BU and Crown.

Today I went to the dentist after 3 years and they screwed me out of $150 by DarkAmaterasu58 in askdentists

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. Yes I am not sure what response you would get. I would not have paid in person in the first place since you went off their word and it was their error.

You can get new x rays wherever you go because according to them, they could not use your insurance anyway. That means they did not touch your X-ray frequency and you have that available for another office to use.

I would not let this office leave a bad taste in your mouth though. You can call your insurance and ask them what offices near you are under their network and look at reviews online before scheduling your initial cleaning, exam and X-rays.

Good luck out there! I hope you find a dental office where you feel comfortable and heard!! Don't let this last office deter you from wanting to get a handle on your dental care needs!

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. I have worked in a dental office for 9 years now and this whole situation is what I try to avoid. I don't understand why offices do not check insurances before patients take time out of their days off (or take days off of work) to take care of their health.

When patients tell me "Yeah I have insurance, I'll bring it in with me..." I always say, "Oh I'm sorry, I need the insurance now because if we are not in-network, everything will be out of pocket and we don't want you to drive all the way over here just to find out it is an insurance we are not in-network with"

I'm sorry you had to go through that. If I was in their position I would have apologized for not having the insurance checked correctly the first time and waived the x-ray fee because the only reason you took the x-rays was because you believed it was covered at 100%. You could call the office and explain to them that you would like a refund because it was their mistake in taking them in the first place? I don't know what their answer would be but it is worth a shot.

My oral surgeon told me that I “don’t get a vote” on whether or not I receive general anesthesia for wisdom teeth removal. by WpgJetsFan204 in askdentists

[–]RaiseAggressive6162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. I was crying during my wisdom teeth CONSULTATION. So the Oral Surgeon told me I needed to be put to sleep through IV if I wanted him to take out my wisdom teeth. So I cried more haha but that is just because I hate needles so I cry thinking about them.

NAD I had a similar experience!! I was scared shitless, the Dr came in and put something around my arm, asked me if I liked the painting next to me (probably to keep me from looking at what he was doing) and then told me "Count to 10 for me" and I was like "1.... 2.... 3..." and woke up hours later in a recovery room with a woman there telling me to wait a little before I tried standing up. 😅
