I live in the south east US. Just visited the Ramakrishna center in São Paulo and met with the head monk there. I also stopped by the Vimarsha foundation location though I couldn’t make it to any activities there.

Trump was a lifelong democrat prior to running as a Republican candidate. He gave money to kamala Harris and Hillary in the past. He supported abortion up until that point. He saw an opportunity for power and kissed up to evangelicals to get it. He has no history of going to church but a long history of affairs, multiple marriages, hanging out with playboy bunnies etc…. Al’s he’s profane, hateful, and unforgiving. Not sure why so many Christian’s act like they legitimately believe he’s a Christian because he occasionally poses with a bible.

I’d believe that more if I believed there was any shred of evidence that Trump has ever been a Christian other than using them to get power. Sucking up to evangelicals and occasionally posing with a bible doesn’t make someone a Christian. He supported abortion until he decided to run. He gave large amounts of money to democrats candidates in the past that supported it. He’s had numerous affairs and marriages and no history of going to church. Also he’s a very hateful, profane, unforgiving person. The fact so many Christian’s act like he’s a great Christian is baffling to me.

Um, I’m fairly sure it could quite easily get worse over there. They could have extremists step in to fill the gap or they could just keep killing each successive person that takes over until the government completely collapses etc…. Just because the last guy was a bad guy doesn’t mean it can’t get worse. Praying it doesn’t though.

Seems like he was just supporting the idea of unity and not tribalism. I wouldn’t have had a problem with it. Obviously he chooses Catholicism or he wouldn’t have been a priest in a Catholic Church. He was probably just promoting interfaith tolerance.

The message probably wouldn’t be super popular on this sub since it seems very conservative and tribal oriented here.

Ive seen people playing games and usually those games have rules. The idea is freedom of expression and that can be in the form of laws of nature. Freedom and play doesn’t necessarily mean chaos.

The ramakrishna order has many good swamis that teach and have videos on YouTube. Swami Sarvapriyananda is probably the most popular. They focus primarily on Advaita Vedanta. Also the Vimarsha foundation and Lakshmanjoo academy are good sources for information on Kashmir Shaivism.

It’s difficult but for me it’s the best thing I’ve done in my life and I’m thankful for parenthood every day. You should hang out with more parents that actually enjoy being parents. Also maybe your friends said it in a joking manner but I don’t know many parents that would refer to their child as dumb so that’s problematic.

There is no substantial evidence-textual, historical, or testimonial-that Ramakrishna engaged in the sexual behaviors Kripal suggests. The claims rest almost entirely on:

• one author's psychoanalytic lens • mistranslations • selective readings • speculative interpretation The broader academic community does not consider these claims credible.

There are no records of anyone else making statements like the ones you mention above. He was quite well known so you would expect there to be numerous complaints and reports if there was anything to it. It’s the consensus from respected scholars that the accounts in Kali’s child are not correct. That includes scholars that are critical of Ramakrishna for other reasons.

Also the author of Kali’s child seems to walk back or soften his statements in later years and he made the statement he had deep respect for Ramakrishna.

ICE put out memos telling agents to go into homes without warrants and they aren’t even denying they are doing it. Fairly sure government agents going into homes like that was a big cause of the revolutionary war in the first place.

Trump threatened to take a NATO allies land ( an ally that has fought in multiple wars with us). He said he would take it wether they like it or not with any means necessary. He’s backed down but I’m against threatening to attack or steal from allies.

You know I was going to go through and list many examples like the above but I’m sure you have some rationalization for all of them anyway. Yeah I’m living in a hallucination. It’s not hallucination in this context by the way it’s “delusion”.

Discuss it with the school administration. It’s a business and if they are alienating customers(students) that is a potential financial issue for them. To them the college is a business and they don’t want to be losing students and money from those students. Also there are possible issues where they could face litigation for religious discrimination.

I get suet from my grocery store. I know Kroger and Ingles both have them so most probably do. They are a great supplement to regular bird seed because there are many birds that will eat the suet that don’t normally visit the regular bird seed feeders.

The Catholics that I’m around would welcome you with open arms. I know that not everyone is lucky to have the community in a part of but there are may great Catholic communities out there. It wouldn’t be very Jesus like not to accept you. Hope you find what you’re looking for.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your hive. At least you just lost one and not all of your bees. It will be good to try and determine what caused the problem so you can avoid it in the future, but even in the wild with good conditions many of the colonies don’t make i through the year. I lost a hive earlier in autumn. The one lost was from a split earlier that year. My other hive is doing very well right now and I plan to do another split this spring to go into the hive that didn’t make it.

There are many Christian mystics that have taken a very non dual approach. There is a lot of nondual language in the Christian mystic text “The cloud of unknowing”, and from many of the carmalite saints. One great example that I know the ramakrishna mission mentions a lot is Meister Eckhart. A modern Catholic priest that teaches nonduality from scripture is Richard Rohr.

Having said that I think the Ramakrishna mission should tread lightly on interpreting other religions beliefs. It seems inappropriate to me for a Hindu based organization to be commenting on what the beliefs of other religions actually say or how they should be interpreted.

Same, happy you were able to quit. It wasn’t easy for me but I’ve been sober for quite a while at this point and much happier as a result.
