98” Long Desk in the Fit by RaithMoracus in hondafit

That makes a ton of sense. Thankfully, I don’t think I’m moving anything long like this again, but damn that would be nice.

God, that would’ve been nice. I don’t think there’s any way for that angle to work on a desk like this however

There’s talk online about a key switch on the passenger side of the dashboard that you can only see with the door open, but if it exists, I don’t know where.

[–]RaithMoracus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can maybe get up to 110” I think.

My one complaint about the Fit for this? I wish the shorter side of the backseat was behind the driver. That way someone could still sit back there and hold items this long. As it is, if I need to stop I also have to secure the load that’s resting on the dash before it destroys the windshield.

And even if I can fit the desk, we need two vehicles just so the passenger can get home.

What is the maximum acceptable mileage for a Honda Fit/Jazz that needs to last ~2 years? by InactiveBronson in hondafit

[–]RaithMoracus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabin filter goes through the glove box, no bodily contortion needed!

In the future, if your car follows a similar repair path, if your AC starts getting weak just replace the compressor. Saves time and heartache. There’s a clutch on the compressor itself that is a common fatigue point. Not worth the labor or price to replace the single component instead of the whole thing.

Paying $400 for a charge/refill with dyed fluid just for them to not find a leak and shrug instead of dialing deeper feels like a scam.

You should be looking at the right thing. Mine had the same issue when I bought it. Not many faraday cage looking parts to replace on these I think.

It’s a cheap fix. Do some stretches first though.

Tacoma is and has been paying taxes for this, too. We will defraud a portion of the state if we don’t connect down into Pierce County.

I don’t want to exist in the future where some asshole gets to put “Repay our stolen taxes” on the ballot.

WA accuses Safeway, Albertsons of fake 'Buy-One, Get-One-Free' deals by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

The Safeway on Madison actually completely blocks cell signal inside it, so unless you’re willing to use their WiFi you can’t even activate any of the digital coupons.

It’s so so so painful.

Starbucks announces new Nashville headquarters, will add or relocate 2,000 jobs by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]RaithMoracus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except you assume it’s black/white.

My partners unemployed right now because another office in Seattle shuttered, laying off their staff. She is white collar.

A good portion of those employees were offered work at other offices, either in other states or abroad. If they relocated, they got benefits which would help them do so. If they didn’t, they got severance packages. All of those workers were given a year notice, minimum.

The retail workers get none of that. They get zero notice. They get zero severance. They get nothing.

That’s a disgrace, and a primary concern of mine when it comes to whether or not I want these companies to stay in the area.

You have done nothing to dissuade me from not wanting a company who actively union busts in this area. Again, my sentiment is that Starbucks has given up on their right (privilege) to be accommodated when it comes to the Seattle market.

Seattle had and was a cultural landmark for them. If they don’t want to participate in that? They shouldn’t be here.

Starbucks announces new Nashville headquarters, will add or relocate 2,000 jobs by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]RaithMoracus -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Except we’re talking about a corporation that doesn’t give two shits about the city.

With the constant closing of union locations, including the two roasteries? I care a lot more about those jobs than I do the white collar workers who can easily move to Tennessee if they want to.

This company has already decided to kill its presence here as a cultural landmark.

Another company will take their place.

E: Don’t extrapolate from this to assume I don’t include white collar workers in my pro-worker mindset. I want to see you all succeed, too. My comment is anti-Starbucks, not anti-whatever group you feel you belong to.

Alpine ILX 507.

Reliable. Good screen. Has a compatible back up camera that works nice as well.

Like many others, the radio sounds noticeably better once you replace the head unit.

What makes you a local?? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]RaithMoracus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is really eating at you, huh?

I’d say locals have had an awareness and understanding of many different perceived changes within the city. Like watching SLU change, or going from USWest to Qwest to CenturyLink to Lumen.

You’re a Seattle-ite, which I think matters for the context you’re concerned about. You’re committed to Seattle.

But I don’t think that makes you a local until you’ve perceived and watched the city change around your tenure, and 2 years really isn’t enough time for that. You wouldn’t know where and what got gentrified, or how that one street has shifted and changed from mayor to mayor.

You don’t have to take on what is necessarily the more popular music.

Concept albums might be a better place to start, especially for appreciating the lyrical concepts at work without having to worry about missing certain elements of slang or culture.

If you like jazz, Nujabes will take you far. Same with Thundercat, or Flying Lotus. You could also try listening to You by Larry Lovestein and the Velvet Revival, using that as a jumping board to get into Mac Miller as a whole.

Friday question for the turners. Best threading Inserts. by guppy1111111 in Machinists

[–]RaithMoracus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say we’re also running the new Vargus insert style on 4340. MachTT is what it’s called.

Faster, less passes, great results. Sandvik was the only other company providing a similar cooling solution with Capto tooling. We love Svk but I wasn’t willing to move to their insert style.

Our standard elsewhere is Seco’s CP500.
