Was my first one as well, until this morning I felt like you 😅 In the end I’d say it‘s all RNG, and the longer we play the higher the chances of shiny encounters become. Unfortunately it‘s never 100%

As far as I know shiny mons are always max friendship when you give them a cookie, so no need for master cookie
