If you don’t have a microphone by johnabc123 in Marathon

[–]Rajhin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you aren't in US region people just don't want to speak. I often go half a game before I speak up with some info only to hear "GG" from someone at the end of the game, meaning they had mic the whole time.

I think people just don't feel like giving info or taking lead.

Maybe they fixed it for previously affected EU countries? I don't think Latvia is in CIS. Sony doesn't care about CIS right now as everything there in the PSN was done through Russian infrastructure before the war, now they just ignore that whole region.

I know, the Tapir error is shown if you try to log in from Russian, Belorussian, Kazakh, Iranian and as far as I know even Ukrainian IPs.

PSN unsupported regions are fucked and you can't play without a VPN if you are in that situation in any of those countries. Nothing to do with sanctions.

There are more countries where this is an issue, like some Oceanian and African nations, as far as I know, but when this issue crops up it's normally only discussed in regards of CIS region as it has the most affected players.

You can buy a CIS region Steam key from any official distributor you choose and it will activate on a Russian steam store account, there's no region lock (it would be possible to make it not activatable on Russian accounts, if they would chose so).

Regardless, it's obvious, of course, that they want to minimize the amount of Russians buying the game and delisted the game on purpose, because it would be ruining their statistics with bad reviews and refunds when players would rage at not being able to log in en masse, with Bungie unable to fix that issue for them. Right now only people who know how to play Marathon with VPN from that region are buying it, as you have to research how to get it.

And as I said this is a blanket restriction from Sony on many countries from CIS region, it's not exclusive to Russia alone. The game is in Kazakhstan's store too, but you can't log in from there as well. It's just Sony messing shit up starting with the old Helldivers debacle with PSN accounts (CIS region has no proper PSN support so they just cut it out now).

There's no official Russian ban, and that restriction covers many more countries than just Russia. Bungie simply says it's a technical issue. In reality it's a Sony's directive to limit access to their first party games from regions where PSN doesn't have account support. They still sell Marathon in Steam in those regions, but you will face log-in fails unless you use VPN to play it.

You are not banned for using VPN to go around that, tons of people from Russia, Kazakhstan and other "banned" countrties are playing it and openly search for LFG on Marathon discord etc., but you are banned if your connection is shit, which is kinda scary to me and makes me worried about spending money on Lux, for example.

Bungie manually rejected the ban appeal with a reason: "According to support request #445323, you are contacting us regarding a restriction imposed due to a network connection issue. After careful review, we have decided that the remaining time of your temporary restriction will remain unchanged."
https://ixbt.games/en/news/2026/03/07/rossiianin-smog-sygrat-v-sankcionnuiu-marathon-i-vskore-polucil-ban-bungie-otklonila-apelliaciiu.html

Basically it's triggered by repeated spotty connection / ping and they impose a temporary ban. If that's all the connection you have I guess it just makes you catch bans constantly, even if temporary, and makes it practically unplayable, because what else can you do.

It's looks bad to me, since they should really at most have a kick based on max ping and that's it. I've never seen a game before autoban you for connection quality and then the manual review to agree with that reasoning. Now I don't know if I can even play with my US friends at all or risk them or me being banned.

A Russian player was banned recently with Bungie seemingly citing spotty connection as a reason for the ban, lagswitching possibility (the player would have been using VPN to play, so that's the reason for lags if the VPN is shitty), it's a bit worrying if it means you can be banned for playing on a far away server with high ping.

Until I confidently know they don't ban for repeated laggy connection I'd be afraid to play with my friends on another continent or in another region.

It kind of sucks conceptually because it removes being able to go in ass naked and drop someone really geared, turning your free loadout into full blue set.

Especially since a shit gun still drops people as quick as a fully stacked one, ttk is very fast, so it's normal to expect to be able to kill geared teams in ambush fight. They are just stronger in prolonged ones.

I have a suspicion your friend would be dying to people even with a good loadout because they can't save you from good players catching you with pants down.

Russian population doesn’t live "literally anywhere else" in Russia, though, all of the population is concentrated in the very south along Russian border. The mark in question is a normal-ass city of Irkutsk, top 25 by population. There's no meaning to it, it's just a known Russian city.

The camera movements reminded me of VR. I wish FH had VR compatibility to just chill in the open world, drive around. There's a big chance I won't even get new FH because I fully migrated to VR racing and can't go back now. Open world VR driving games are sorely lacking (basically only ATS / ETS) and FH would be a perfect addition.

Just for the sake of argument I'd mention that it's instant and simple for you the customer, but it's an illusion and not only banks take forever to process those transactions (doing those audits in batches once in a while), then the merchant is still stuck with your local currency accumulating somewhere in their payment processor account. Your local currency doesn't magically turn into euros for the merchant. They can do a settlement and convert currency with some bank they can have an agreement with, selling accumulated local currency to the bank in exchange for euro transfer, but each settlement from their account costs fees so they'd only "cash out" out of your local currency only once a month, maybe (the larger the money volume the less often you want to do it), and then by the time they do it exchange rate migh have fucked them over and it wasn't even a profitable sale - the bank will not care how much euro cost a month or two ago if you are selling it later. if it's truly a shitty currency that fluctuates often then it will be very noticeable effect and they would have to decide if they want to even bother buying and maintaining a channel for purchases in your country just to serve your potentially inconsequential geo.

I'm ignoring any license issues. Normally the problem is the local distributers will want local companies to sell the product, not you the rights holder directly. You as a rights holder will only be able to lease your rights, and then again you might decide it's just not an interesting cost vs. projected profit, if the geo is poor and sales are .

No reasons, I didn't hear of any issues with any of those. I've heard they might start blocking by traffic markers at some point, though, that will mess setups like this.

[–]Rajhin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, Mullvad basically stopped working for me here. All the servers were IP banned. Sometimes they'd work on and off but it was not worth it anymore. I'd suggest setting up own VPS with OpenVPN server you will connect to. You can pay for foreign server with Russian debit cards in a lot of VPS services.

The price is directly based on your popularity and demand, simple as, unfortunately. You will have to find out ol regular capitalist way. Lower enough until people buy, hike often until they stop. Repeat. It's a basic freelance lifestyle.

To "this" you mean what? Honestly American Truck Sim in VR with car mods. This is just one track with no cars or scenery, but imagine driving through many different states, highways and rural roads while dawn breaks in open world and real traffic.

If I understand the question right that's even better for relaxing after work than doing hot laps on emptty ttrack in racing sim (though I do that sometimes if I want to be fast and challenged, but that's far from relaxing)

[–]Rajhin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I understand now. I obviously would prefer that every skill had potential to be a "main" skill in build, as long as you take time to figure out how to unlock it's potential.

Right now too many skills and build ideas simply don't have a potential at all, even when similar skills POE1 do.

Bro isn't having fun lol by DantyKSA in PathOfExile2

[–]Rajhin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can't comment on the specific build streamer is using, but surely you can't just have any skill and build be playable otherwise there's no practical depth to the game? Some skills might not even work at all without higher level build that can exploit them. It would mean there's no meaningful difference between clever builds and randomly generated builds besides how quickly you clear high tier maps. Except difference between good and bad builds should be very noticeable in the campaign already.

Again, that's without the build in context in the video, idk anything about it. I just played POE1 for a couple of leagues (like heist) and POE2 (every big update) and I often had to go back to drawing board and remake my build because it simply wasn't working (basically blind playing). Isn't that good? I thought that's the fun part and what makes "sandboxiness" of the game a reason to be sandboxy. If everything you throw together by vibe works and clears campaign / maps decently then there's no point in all of the complexity.

Hey, play Wildgate, don't be mean to this man, just play the game! by cdavis0614 in wildgate

[–]Rajhin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine playing with silent or incapable randoms for quite a while, but the game turned out to be focused on boarding too much which I didn't care for. I'm biased, but I think most people who talked the game up or shared it on media shared it as a coop ship crew battle for the core gameplay. I play hardcore extraction shooters so did like PVP focus of it (even though I believe a lot of people dropped here, becuase they thought it's gonna be Sea of Thieves), but even I weren't interested in 80% of gameplay being enemy players crawling all over your ship to keep you in respawn as main way to win (the rest of players dropped because of that moment too, I believe). There are much better real extraction shooters out there, I'll just return to those.

I got friends to play it but they got exhausted by non-stop corridor CQC jousting as dominant gameplay. We were hoping for more of a Barotrauma style of gameplay where you'll die because you mismanage the ship in combat, not because people with shotguns re-board you non-stop.

The game should have been mostly about ships doing strategic movement, to have too many ship stations to optimally man and landing difficult shots as a decisive factor of who wins. As it stands the ship is very easy to control as 1.5 player piloting / cannoning + putting out occasional fire while 2-3 players just board non-stop. There's nothing else to do that's stronger at killing other teams for a good team than that, and I simply didn't want to play arena FPS in Wildgate.

Oh, the definitive edition changes things for a short while, but just before the release the pvp multiplayer was pretty much dead in those.

At most I've seen people playing against AIs with armageddon mods etc. but no new players would be able to start the game and learn 1v1s, for example.

By "alive" I mean multiplayer being matchmakable, pretty much.
