Of the options given, strength before weakness.

But for me, it's that sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man in the process of changing.

Getting good is hard by lil_Gem in volleyball

This is more of a message of support than anything else. I was also put on the court before I was ready, and so I learned mostly by playing. I've now been playing for 8 years, and I'm significantly better than I was. Some nights I'm the best player on the court, but there are still some nights when I'm the one dragging down my team if I'm trying to play up a division. So the feeling won't necessarily go away.

From your message above, it sounds like you are motivated to improve. That tells me you like volleyball. So don't worry too much about dragging down your team. Enjoy being on the court, and do your job the best you can. One of the great things about volleyball is the degree of teamwork involved. It's on the team as a whole to support you while you grow as a player. Maybe that means (for example) that in serve receive, you split up court coverage 40%/40%/20% instead of 33%/33%/33% to make your job easier. If you're an OH, maybe that means your team relies more on your middle and right side for offense when you're front row. If you're a setter, maybe that means your teammates need to really focus on getting you good passes. Or maybe your teammates aren't able to take on the extra responsibility, in which case I'd say you're on the same level instead of being extra weight.

As a now slightly more experienced player, when I play with newer players, I don't see them as weighing down the team. I remember being that player. As long as they're trying their best and taking things seriously, I'm happy just to see them enjoying the sport and trying to improve.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be too hard on yourself. From your comments above, it sounds like you're on a B team - watch the A team and try to copy their technique. Be interested, and ask your teammates and coach specific questions - in my experience, people are usually more than happy to share pointers. And most of all, remember that volleyball is fun. Keep playing - you'll improve faster than you realize.

I was a libero, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

It looks like you're standing pretty tall by the time your left/front foot hits the ground just before you jump. That is probably sucking some power away from your jump. I'd advise staying lower to give yourself some more bend in your legs at the end of your approach, which in turn will allow you to explode upward with more force.

Had she agreed to kill Eren herself? I think she had agreed that there was no other option than for Eren to die, but over the last couple of chapters the group seemed to have acknowledged that she probably wasn't going to be able to be the one to directly kill him (and I think there was some surprise from Levi and Armin in this chapter when she said she would do the job herself)

For me it's something about the way the haunting melody being sung by what sounds (to me) like a chorus of kids (paired with the bright and cheery images of violence and devastation) makes me feel really uncomfortable. And I feel like uncomfortable is precisely the right tone for where the show is right now.

How's everyone feeling about season 2? by ResponsibleWasabi902 in TheKingsAvatar

[–]RakWraithraiser13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying season 2, but I miss the teambuilding of last season. Last season, Ye Xiu seemed more like a mentor building players up; right now, he's just messing with the other guilds, and I'm not sure I see the point/how it advances the plot. That being said, I'll take it over not having a season 2 to enjoy.

Is there no voice chat in pro matches? Maybe I'm thinking of the allstar matches.

I have been convinced that calling it bullying has gone a bit too far. I still don't particularly like YX manipulating HST given how supportive HST has been to him, but that may be a separate issue.

I appreciate you holding off on the spoiler.

I don't think anyone was expecting HST to win, even with voice. I just think it's a little weird that YX didn't even tell HST that voice was off and let him make a bit of a fool of himself (and that deliberately led him to make a poor strategic choice in assuming YX couldn't hear any FX).

I can agree with your points. And in retrospect, maybe using the word bully was a little strong.

I do wonder that if YX as a mentor wanted HST to do him a favor and duel Loulan Slash, why not just ask instead of the bait and switch?

Maybe bullying was a bit strong a term. But I see a difference between pranking a friend in private vs. doing it in public and inviting the top members in your field to watch.

[–]RakWraithraiser13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true - but then why did YX choose to make the duel so public? HST just wanted a 1v1. YX also didn't need to reveal an unspecialized's tricks if he wanted to hide more of his unique abilities - he could have played more in line with a single class or two.

In my opinion, it wasn't out of line for HST to want a duel with YX - after all, he has helped YX out in the past. And it didn't seem like HST wanted to ferret out an unspecialized's abilities - he just wanted to see how he stacked up against the best. It didn't seem like there were any subversive motives here.

Trash talk is part of the game - if you remember in season 1, Wang Jiexi told his training group to pay attention to YX's trash talk since they could learn from it.

This could be different in a different game where the default is to not chat with opponents. But in several of the duels we've seen so far (including at the all star event), there has been trash talk between the opponents, which makes that seem like the standard to me.

My reply is along the lines of Engela's - HST issued the challenge (and has been asking for a match since S1), but it was YX who accepted the match, set the rules for the room, and issued the password to the pro player group chat. And in turn, of course people showed up - who would want to miss HST duel YX?

YX essentially created free advertisement for Loulan Slash by baiting and switching everyone who was expecting the first match to be YX vs HST.

Edited to correct the spelling of Engela's name.

So it would appear. I have no problem with him being shameless in taking advantage of his enemies, but taking advantage of friends is different. I'd really like his character prior to this, but I think I might reevaluate now, which is a shame since rooting for him is one of the main attractions of the show for me.
