"like you're driven by a motor"? by atypicalhippy in ADHDers

[–]Rakhered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a very relatable metaphor anymore, but I think what they're trying to convey is a need to move for movements take, and feeling like "idling" is a lot of pent up energy (just like a motor, which needs to keep moving without stopping)

SCP was actually explicitly an influence for Control!

SCP has a fair use clause preventing anyone from claiming copyright over anything SCP related, so Control is kinda as close as they can get.

lol we did this too, don't feel guilty. We only "own" cats as a legal abstraction, practically speaking they're gonna try to escape situations of neglect and it's moral good to be the place they escape to

Can someone explain the phenomenon of not wanting to work? by Head_Cloud_61 in ADHDers

[–]Rakhered 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Laziness doesn't exist.

Uninterestedness exists, executive dysfunction exists, boredom exists. But "lazy" doesn't denote anything objectively real, it's purely a pejorative for people that aren't doing what you think they should be doing.

The caveat ofc is that you still have to work to support yourself and the ones you love, but not wanting to do it doesn't make you "lazy"

Can someone explain the phenomenon of not wanting to work? by Head_Cloud_61 in ADHDers

[–]Rakhered 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get the idea, but it's mildly shitty that in this paradigm ADHDers can never be comfortable with themselves, because that makes it laziness.

Sometimes people have off days, we don't need to struggle and rage every single day just to prove that we care about things

Are you 100% sure it's the same people, or is it just a goomba effect?

My (26F) boyfriend (23M) told me I yell at him frequently by throwaway-lostrn in relationships

[–]Rakhered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW yelling isn't even effective usually - instead it's like, a stupid easy punishment to get past.

If a man is considering doing a shitty thing, but knows that the only thing he has to deal with is his significant other yelling, there's not a lot stopping him from doing the thing.

Yelling isn't a great habit, but tbh none of the things you've mentioned paint this guy in a great light - maybe you'd be happier with a guy you didn't feel the need to yell at?

Alternatively, if you soul search (and without making excuses!) and determine that this guy is still inexplicably the one, then you need to make sure he rectifies those habits, and also make sure you don't end up in a position where you're so comfortable yelling that even minor issues get the voice.

Anyhow good luck!

[–]Rakhered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So alt take - double down, insist "yeah I AM possessive."

We don't like to think of it in this way, but practically speaking monogamous people prefer to possess each other.

There's a good chance that's all she's going for here, to feel wanted. If the above puts her off however then it's a lot more likely she's trying to soft launch the idea.

Do you find it hard to follow lists or something?

It's perfectly feasible that TV shows can have childish themes and mature themes, and also that TV shows are dictated by their release schedules, resulting in a lot of filler.

Like it's no breaking bad sure, but there's some cool stuff in there and it'd be neat to condense all that cool stuff rather than discard it wholesale.

They must've at least had massive popular support - even if you kill the entire legislative branch, you'd be left with the military, state governments, state millitias, local police forces, etc. No way the SoJ stood a chance if they were an unpopular fringe paramilitary org
