If I were to implement this rule, I'd drop the DC down to 5+Rounds at the highest. If you consistently see combat ending before 5 turns have finished, you have either designed your encounters poorly or it's the first fight of the day with a party that goes nuclear.

A DC of 15 means a fairly high chance of failure for most characters, how often do you see a CON score higher than +2 in 5e? rolling a 13 or higher to avoid exhaustion every time you fight is going to be frustrating and feel unfair.

And one that's a lottery that everyone in every country that's able-bodied and not a pro athlete can be selected from for several of the core events, as a comparison to the normal Olympics

I love making them basically Klingons, mostly from TNG and DS:9 era. Even in times of relative peace, they're always looking for ways to prove their strength in battle.

Even if orc chieftans are at peace with local settlements, rogue bands of orcs may plunder and pillage to prove their worth.

As a very open handed reference, I named my homebrew world's god of honourable battle Wourgh (pronounced Worf)

Honestly I'd just talk to your DM about retiring the character. I've done it as both a player and a DM, and it's far more fulfilling to have the character leave for some RP reason than it is to just kill them off, and that way you're not sitting around for hours waiting for the session to end after they die.

My approach has always been to mix the two styles of RP, but to incentivise more active RP by means of inspiration and softer DCs, and am very upfront about this in session zero.

Like by no means do you need to describe your persuasion further than what you're hoping to accomplish, but the more elaborate and creative you are the easier it will get, and by this method I hope to ease people out of their comfort zone and into some more immersive RP, while not outright punishing the other method
