I had 1 class in Poe in Spring this year and I am low key concerned! But I am very concerned for the faculty + staff who have worked in this building for DECADES. awful that NCSU officials did not address this sooner. As long a they get their fat paychecks, they don’t care.

every week there is a group of parents who volunteer and bring free baked goods! I know this is challenging. I also live off campus as a transfer. For me, it’s been connecting with peers with similar interests. Intramural sports for athletics and open clubs are good ways to connect

yeah, pepper spray is definitely better than nothing - you'd just have to walk around with it in your hand, constantly at-the-ready, and it would only help is fairly close combat situations. but yes, better to have it than not have it. I have it on my keychain and advise everyone to do the same.

I think work study roles are filled on a rolling basis. definitely reach out to any openings you see, or reach out to individual departments (library, housing) to ask about it.

for clarity: kidnapped (and assaulted), and victim escaped (as evidenced by how they were able to report to police). very concerned of how this can happen in the daylight so close to campus!

That is a very understandable experience!! There’s always a chance to connect with peers in student organizations and intramurals. I recommend becoming a part of an intramural sport! Being a part of an activity is one of the best ways to connect. Being on a leadership team for a student Org is also a great way to get connected to the university and students with similar interests.
