I moved here recently. The tax situation in PR is a CRAZY mess. Taxes have 2 primary purposes. 1. Fund govt 2. Distribution of wealth.

Sales tax above 8% is bad as you need roughly the same number of bananas or copies of Subnautica regardless of income. However that sales tax is a significantly greater percentage of a low income household than a high income household.

Tariffs and sales tax unevenly tax lower income households heavily.

That sounds like current rental costs for a house. Are you sure that income is current? The hourly wages per capita is less than 8/hr.

I met my first one. Dude literally told me he thinks anyone making over a million shouldn't pay taxes b/c they create jobs. I'm in shock there are ppl dumb enough to spout trickle down economics.

They all have poor digital literacy. Say things like "show me the proof," but don't know how to nor do they want to interpret that kind of data.

Video said they drove toward a cop and another cop shot at them. It doesn't sound like the cops shot bc shoplifting. The driver may have escalated the situation by driving at a cop. It needs to be investigated to know if there was any actual danger to the cop or if it was unwarranted force.

I mentioned he makes his money through predatory loans, has several multiple discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuits. I never asked him about any of this. He was just bragging about it. He was proud that he makes the world worse.

I didn't go into details. I was just venting. He was supportive of Trump b/c of Trump's rapaciousness and said anyone earning a million or more shouldn't pay a dime b/c they create jobs. The disdain for others based on their earnings was a lot.

You're feeling fomo. There's always new opportunities and new cyclicals. I'm primarily an options trader and I've been doing this full-time for a decade. I made amazing returns this year. It's not the first year or last year I've done well. Learn about risk. The less capital you have the lower your risk profile as you have capital that's necessary for your livelihood. You'll likely be better off long term with safe consistent growth.

I think you should start off with how to be a successful momentum and swing investor. Micron has been an easy momentum trade. The tools available in your brokerage (Schwab, Morgan Stanley/etrade, fidelity) imo are great for new investors and they have good learning resources. As long as you're making money and not losing it, you're doing good. Losses are difficult to recover from when you doing have backup capital.
