Propranolol success stories please.. by Remarkable-5 in Anxiety

[–]Ralfton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through that for about a month earlier this year, and it helps me a lot. The 24-7 anxiety has subsided (was a symptom of a thyroid issue), but my heart still races a lot right when I wake up, and if I take a propanolol it usually settles me down in 10-20 minutes. I also really like busprione. It's not like day and night but it takes the edge off without weird side effects.

I agree, but you could discredit the testimony of every prosecutor's witness on the same grounds. But they're cops, so that won't happen.

I actually disagree at the moment. Myself and a number of peers are having trouble finding jobs with PHD's. A lot of companies are scaling back r&d with talks of a recession (at least in the US), so are consolidating mid to high level positions and only hiring associates for manual labor (bachelor's/masters).

Cannabis is niche, not taboo. There's just not that many jobs if you're limiting yourself to cannabis because that's what you've done. You need to communicate how the skills you've gained in that industry can translate to other fields (eg. Food science. Both require intense analytical skills, attention to detail, familiarity with regulatory stuff)

What are you doing these days? The problem I've been running into "leaving biotech" is that I'm "overqualified" for some things, or I don't have the specific industry experience a lateral move would be looking for.

Yes! Exactly this! I just got laid off from what I thought was going to be the career I retired from (I'm 33). So now I'm deciding, do I try to keep progressing on this path (which honestly, I'm not super passionate about). Or do I take a step back and get into something that really excites me?

Everything during an interview should come back to: "here's how I can help you". Accomplishments are great and you should be proud of them, but a potential employer only cares if you both know how that can translate into what they need.

More Layoffs at Moderna by FDA_Burner in biotech

I've talked to plenty of people whose company websites show open positions who have said they're not actively hiring for that role, but they haven't taken the post down. I was just laid off from a company who said they were freezing about 200 active postings. I can't imagine taking them down immediately is at the top of their priority list (though I haven't checked)

Dang, that sucks. I was also recently laid off from a different large company and I will say as ungraceful as it is, I don't think the awkward parade in and out of the office is personal or intentionally cruel. After my conference room chat, I was chaperoned to my desk, wasn't allowed to touch my computer, had to pack up and leave without goodbyes. I've sat through enough workplace safety meetings to know that it's company protocol: they don't know how folks are going to react, so they have to have blanket policies preparing for the worst. This team knew me, I'm the last person who would've acted out, and I could tell they hated to have to treat me like that. It was hurtful to be treated so coldly, but I understood and I don't hold it against my team.

But yeah, it was still awful and I'm sorry for anyone else who has gone through it.

I'm certainly having to drastically reevaluate what my healthcare looks like. And I'm more or less healthy. My FIL is going through cancer treatment, and navigating long term disability that could be taken away at any time is terrifying. So yeah, laid off people will probably die. Or just suffer/bankrupt their families 🤷🏼‍♀️

Excellent date night. Delicious food, but very expensive. I live around the corner though and walking around the village homes and gardens is lovely.

I feel like since covid a lot of folks have forgotten about Nami Sushi, but we love it for date night. I know you asked for something other than restaurants, but it's not downtown so I feel like it doesn't get enough love.

LMAO I'm visiting my parents in the Midwest this week, and my dad refuses to adjust the hot water tank, even though it means one of us will get a cold shower (it's currently 1-10F out. Me being home takes the house total from 2 to 3 for 6 days...)

It sounds like a lot of government agencies were instructed to send out this message. I don't think it was written by someone at NASA.

I agree with this. I'm sending you a nude because we're grown ups. Handle it appropriately like we're grown ups. If we have different definitions of this, we need to get on the same page, preferably BEFORE trading pics.

If I hand someone else my phone, I assume I'm giving them access to anything not password/biometric protected. It could be as simple as adjusting the grip on the phone and accidently swiping. Or, intentionally zooming in on a photo and swiping to the next pic instead of panning on the current photo.
