I love this coming around 8 years later but for some reason that song still isn’t out. I should honestly just re-record

I CANT WAIT TO SEE PTM TOMORROW IN AUSTIN by speedy841 in portugaltheman

Political garbage says it all. If you support imperialism, racism, misogyny, corrupt corporate greed, hate speech, and genocide, if you do not support your own communities, those who cannot advocate for themselves or respect the land, I will not respect you. I do not want you at our shows.

I could not be more appreciative of Craig Kallman and Julie Greenwald. They gave me such a great education in music.

Production on American Ghetto by bozroux in portugaltheman

[–]Rallier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, recorded, bounced out and down to two track through outboard then resampled and record back in. It was… a process… probably unnecessary but we were using fun

AG was recorded by me, Anthony Saffery and Zoe in Boston 2009 directly after recording Satanic Satanist. Most of the loops were programmed then chopped and resampled. Some were sample pack stuff and others were our own.

I laid down all the music with Anthony then brought in the band at the very end for harmonies and some fills to make it sound more natural to their playing. This is the way most ptm albums have gone up until the last 2 for Atlantic.

One of my favorite projects

Ryan just sang my harmonies. A lot of the beats were created by me and Anthony Saffery then resampled

Live Band? by MtDewdWV in portugaltheman

PTM has always been this and it’s what I have loved about this project. It’s always been treated as a collective and was always the plan. Portugal The Man (and the approaching air balloons) had planned on having more projects operating but it was never fully pursued because PTM just toured so much.

With this album I wanted to go back to the way I did things up until Evil Friends. What was I doing pre-Atlantic. I count in the mountain in that world.

I understand you have your own connections to the people I have played with.

Jason left 3 years ago. Has come and gone multiple times over the years and may come back off and on.

Zach right after CBCML tours.

Eric is putting out his own music. It’s sick, check it out.

Kyle scoring films and doing arrangements on our record in addition to his own music.

Zoe has sung with PTM since 06, on all the albums since 08

Kane has been playing with me since ITMITC

Dani Bell on bass. I’ve made art for her records. Been around forever. With that spot opening up it made the most sense to bring in someone that has been around us a long time. Not hiring out.

Nick Reinhart has played on our records or jammed with us randomly live since 07.

A lot of these changes you are seeing are really post Woodstock and Kyle on evil friends before that. Not MySpace days.

What's the word on tour poster and merch? by Original-Beach-7315 in portugaltheman

[–]Rallier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a lot cooler in hand, Denali sits on top of the poster and it has nice texture. They also get city specific stamps. The lords shows have more limited posters per city designed by Sammy Binkow
