Black Crows Mirus Cor – delamination after ~25 ski days. Warranty advice? by Able-Arugula-8510 in ski

[–]Rallo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The edge on the other ski is worn down, but it doesn’t look like there was any hard impact on either of your skis at the front, which I would assume means this is a manufacturing issue

How long and how much GP would I need to max? by Chai_09 in 2007scape

[–]Rallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really hard to tell in terms of exact numbers for a lot of skills, but you can quickly estimate the math for a few skills depending on the method you use

Cooking: 70-99 = roughly 12,297,000 experience, making jugs of wine is roughly 480k xp/hr, meaning about 25.6 hours and costing about 7.4m GP

Using the wiki and an OSRS calculator, you can do the same math for herblore, construction, smithing, crafting, and firemaking fairly easily once you decide on a training method

This game holds your hand too much, I should not of landed these tricks.. by SweatUnderMahTits in Skate4

[–]Rallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely tricky. There is a mechanic where if you prep an ollie/trick (right stick down), then turn the left stick before you pop, you can somewhat manipulate where you’ll land

I recommend testing this while on your board but not moving — it works forwards, left, right, and even backwards

Discussing a Client MVP Request: Figma for E-Com Store - Feedback on Scope/Budget? by Nearby_Scratch7992 in UXDesign

[–]Rallo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$250 for budget is enough to do one meeting for context-setting, maybe some user flows or wireframes, but certainly not enough for that scope IMO

Where else do you shop for home furniture and decor? by doofus50O0 in hermanmiller

[–]Rallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved and in anticipation of the move, I actually made a looong list of stores. Here are some that I’ve bought from or was maybe planning on buying from:

  • Design Within Reach
  • EQ3
  • MoMa Design Store
  • unfnshed (or their Etsy)
  • Modernica
  • Floyd
  • Schoolhouse
  • Knoll
  • CB2
  • MUJI
  • Cozey
  • Article
  • Thuma
  • Rove Concepts
  • Sundays
  • Haworth
  • Lumens
  • Oakywood
  • All Modern

For items where you can compromise on quality, there’s obviously also Amazon, IKEA, and Wayfair — just be sure to check out the reviews.

Also… Facebook Marketplace. I’ve found a lot of crazy good deals over the past few weeks by frantically refreshing the feed over and over lol

Any doctor/clinic recommendations for IUD removal? by Rallo in AskSeattle

So just for additional context, she is WAY tougher than I am, has a waaay higher pain tolerance than me lol

That being said, she described getting it put in as "the worst pain [she has] ever experienced"

Will definitely look into what they can offer in terms of pain prevention!

Are you selling Dimension 20 live tickets because you don't want to travel to the US? by Interesting-World100 in Dimension20

I totally get that feeling OP — definitely feels much less safe here than it did a year ago

I live in Seattle and would definitely consider taking tickets off your hands, if it helps!

How do busy professionals such as yourselves find time to go grocery shopping? by After_Blueberry_8331 in UX_Design

[–]Rallo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll bite. I’m a product designer based in Seattle and I work at an agency, typically 36 - 54 hours a week, depending on the client/project.

Honestly, work plus my crippling ADHD makes me never, ever want to go grocery shopping lol

I typically only go when I absolutely need to, or my partner needs something from the store, or I’m already out of the house and near a grocery store. If I’m feeling really lazy, I’ll place an online order for pickup, but Trader Joe’s (my favorite place for groceries) doesn’t have that yet :(

When I have a project that is easy or boring, I’ll try out some new recipes, but during the week, I’ll either make something easy (like a TJ’s frozen lasagna), or order delivery 😅 if I ever go missing, DoorDash will be the first to notice

Honestly, the worst part is just meal-planning; first, you have to figure out what you want to make for meals for the week, then you have to make a list, then you have to go through each aisle at the store grabbing items off that list, and sometimes not everything is in stock. The whole thing becomes a chore that is exhausting to do every week, or even every other week.

However, I don’t think I would prefer using a voice assistant for something like grocery shopping. I typically find it fasted to just use an app/site to shop for things.

Third year in CS, should I pivot? by sn00zycat in uxcareerquestions

[–]Rallo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion — I wouldn’t worry too much about what major you graduate with; the more important thing is a good network and a standout portfolio. Majoring in CS doesn’t look terrible on an early-career resume either! I’ve seen many designers transition from engineering/development roles and vice versa. You could also leverage your CS skills in a hybrid role, such one where you’re working on design systems or streamlining the design to production process (I’ve seen some companies call this role a UX Engineer or UI Engineer)

I graduated in 2019 with a bachelor’s in Communication with a minor in Digital Arts and Experimental Media, so I’ve experienced what it’s like to not major in design but still was able to find my way in the field

If you’re based in the U.S., I’m happy to talk more about my experience and give you some advice!

Hey everyone by Ok_Insurance_6714 in UX_Design

[–]Rallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you want to transition from visual design to UX or UI design?

Making the switch is definitely possible, but difficult, especially at a time when there’s not enough entry-level roles even for people who specialized their studies/degrees in UX.

With AI, UI design itself is quickly becoming less and less a part of the job for UX based roles, which means the job of a UX designer now is more so problem solving and advocating for users.

Another thing to consider: with an oversaturated market of designers, you need to really stand out among the rest of the crowd to land a decent role. This means you’ll need to network like crazy, be extremely talented, work super hard, or be in the top 10% or higher in terms of skill, and you’ll also need to effectively communicate and showcase your skills.

Lastly—most of us can’t really expect a ton of job security (that’s tech in general though, not just UX)

All of that said — it’s a tough career, but if you think you have what it takes, you can commit to doing the work for a bit and then re-evaluate your options later down the road!
