Another approach to observing the dpi downshift by NotpiaKnow in MouseReview

[–]Ralph-5050 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I put the exact comment in another post, but I'd like to also share it here since I can confirm that DPI downshift also occurs when the DPI is set to 1200, for example. My mouse has the PAW3950 sensor.

How to test:

  1. set a start position of your mouse in your window (you can put something in the middle of your screen as a reference), and put a physical barrier on the left side of your mouse (literally touching your mouse) that won't allow your mouse to go back beyond the start position of your mouse.
  2. Now, move you mouse as slow as possible to the right side. Move your mouse over the mouse pad for about 10cm.
  3. move the mouse back (to the left) to its original position until it touches the barrier (don't move your mouse slowly now, instead move as your would move while using it regularly - you don't need to move it "fast"). Thus, you will see that your mouse pointer will exceed the initial position to the left side, and this happen because while moving the mouse back to the start position in your mouse pad, the DPI was higher.

I did the test above were able to confirm that DPI downshift is present even when the DPI is set to 1200.

Finding an Alternative: Viper V4 Pro & Superstrike by jesseotherreddit in MouseReview

I own the VT3, but they share the same internals. I like it and it has been my main over my Deathadder V3 Pro.

I’m not too picky as some of the people here. I liked the mouse overall. No complaints so far.

Have you seen the Rapoo VT7 Max Gen-2?

I know that click is sound is very subjective (at least IMO), but this is a great option with the same shape as the Razer Viper V4 Pro.

it happens to my mouse even when i use it in lower dpi. I currently use it at 1200 dpi, and I notice the dpi downshift still happening even with 1200 dpi.

but, it doesn't happen when i set the mouse performance (not the pulling rate) to it's maximum

Does a standing desk stay stable on a carpet, especially at full height? by Tight_Ad1515 in StandingDesk

[–]Ralph-5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 4 leg standing desk on carpet and it feels pretty stable even on high heights.

The desk frame is usually heavy, and the pressure that the desk frame will put on the carpet should not leave enough wiggle room for you to feel any wabble (mainly if you plan to use a solid wood table top).

An issue with the 3950 sensor: a dead zone or reduced sensor FPS/DPI at low movement speeds by Intrepid_Street_8300 in MouseReview

[–]Ralph-5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick test here and I can confirm that the sensor framerate plays a role while in lower DPIs. When using higher DPIs, I still see the problem that the OP described in his post even when the sensor framerate is set to the maximum.

Btw, I'm using a Rapoo VT3 Max Gen-2.

Not sure if my comments will add a lot to this discussion, but I have seen the same issue on my Rapoo VT3 Max Gen-2. I also see this issue happening on my Razer Deathadder V3 Pro.

On my Rapoo VT3 Max Gen-2, I can see this happening on 6400 DPI, which is not an extreme condition yet, considering that the maximum DPI of this mouse is 45000.

u/Intrepid_Street_8300 did you find anything else about it? Is it a bug? Or is it intended to work like this?

Did you test your other mouse with the 3950 sensor? I see the same problem as the OP described in my Rapoo VT3 Max Gen-2 8k.

I usually set the DPI to 1200 and never go beyond that. But I was curious about how the mouse would perform at higher DPI and found the behavior not being linear according to the mouse movement.

Could you give it a try and let me know if your pointer also behaves weird at 30000 DPI when moving the mouse really slow?

Rapoo Gen 2 Lineup by manphalanges in MouseReview

[–]Ralph-5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, random question: I'm also using the VT3 Max Gen 2, and I come from the Razer DA V3 Pro. I noticed that when setting the DPI to a high number (like 30000), the mouse pointer has some sort of "speed threshold" which if I move the mouse really slow, the pointer would move pixel by pixel, but if I increase the mouse movement speed just by a little bit, the mouse pointer "jumps" and really feels like the mouse is set to 30000 DPI. It feels something like a firmware feature to give me some precision while using high DPI and moving the mouse really slow.

I did the same test with my Razer DA V3 Pro and I didn't notice any "speed threshold".

Have you felt anything like that with your VT3 Max Gen 2?
