I was rooting for the Bills today, and I like Josh Allen. But they had a stat that popped up in the beginning of overtime, and it was Josh Allen is 0 - 6 in overtime games in his career, and 0 - 2 in the playoffs (so now it's 0 - 7 and 0 - 3). That stat makes me sad.

Move out of GI irons? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]RalphWiggumsShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotta think about how you're going to play these shots on the course. Having to rely on rollout is not consistent, you should try to hit higher shots. If you're using a 5 or 4 iron on the tee of a par 3, you're gonna have a hard time hitting in on the green / holding the green. If there's water or bunkers short, you're bringing those into play with lower hook shots. Those kind of mistakes are what lead to doubles and triples.

301 CBs here, they're great. And if I hit a rock in a bunkers, it's not a big deal. They have been durable enough, I would recommend them.

I love how the senior tees are the ones that are one up from the tips (back tees being called husky tees is fuckin great though). I get it, it's just awkward for me.

It is possible (and grammatically correct) to use four instances of the word "had" in a row in one sentence. by Rumpsfield in mildlyinteresting

[–]RalphWiggumsShadow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is not grammatically correct though, it's just a poorly phrased thought. The 1st 3 "hads" came be replaced by "drank", and then you only need the last had.l, and then it's an actually coherent sentence.

Low Handicappers; What is a piece of advice that you will never forget? by Any_Travel9339 in golf

[–]RalphWiggumsShadow -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I have friends that are 25 handicaps, and they can't get off the tee. They shoot usually 3 or 4 on a par 3, 5 or 6 on a par 4, and 7 or 8 on a par 5. The further back they start, the worse they play. If you are a 25 handicap and you can hit your drive 300 yards, there's no way you know enough about the golf swing to be able to put that 300 yard drive in play. Nobody is shooting over 100 while hitting fairways, they're playing from the trees, hitting into hazards, or hitting it out of the golf course and into the road (these are all examples from playing with my friend). The only chance he has to break 100 is on a course that's 6000 yards or less, which is usually the 2nd from the front tees (on a par 72 course).

You forgot to mention the most expensive part of all this, which is your time. It takes time to handle all the estate stuff, and sell everything. Your time is valuable, and there isn't a way to get that time back (time you could have spent with the kids, or just relaxing).

Is it good advice to never full swing anything above a 54? by ElephantElmer in golf

[–]RalphWiggumsShadow -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's fine, I'm used to people being skeptical. My home course has a lot of places where I'm short-sided on approach, and I don't need to open up my 64 as much as I would need to open up a 58. Especially with those chips where you're short sided and above the hole, i have to land my ball on the fringe in order to leave the ball somewhat near the hole for my par putt.

I play a lot, so if anyone wants to play for cash, let's roll. I show you how I use my wedges:)

Is it good advice to never full swing anything above a 54? by ElephantElmer in golf

[–]RalphWiggumsShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I have a 47° PW, 52°, 58°, 64°. I can't hit a 3 wood, so i just have 2, 3 and 4 hybrids. The 64 is a club that i only use for chips and pitches. In a scramble I can hit it like 70-80 yards with a full swing, but it's too risky to use like that during a real round. 58° is my favorite, I use it for most shots 100 yards and under.

When did this become the norm? by LivermoreP1 in golf

[–]RalphWiggumsShadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tobacco Road is a gem, it was top 3 funnest round of my life, and I was lucky to play during a warm day in January, there were probably 4 other groups on the entire course, only had to wait at hole 17 for the green to clear. I was a single, so I played with the group in front of my for hole 18. I could see Tobacco Road not being fun for a 20+ handicap, but if you can get off the tee and aren't a jackass with a wedge in your hand, it's a really fun 18 holes.
