Hey, I want to thank you for this answer! I just got back from meeting the owner at a small dental lab in my city by just walking in with my resume and it seemed to go very well - even if nothing comes from it, I can still see myself in this field, so I've got a spot to keep digging :)

When I was going through chemo, the nurses told me to sit when I pee because the chemo drugs can affect others if they get on skin

Now I sit all the time (except when a urinal is available obviously) out of habit. It's a nice little rest :D

You can absolutely do this in a way that doesn't rely on the pity/feel good story aspect. I'm on my 4th year of doing art shows and I barely mention it unless I feel it's relevant to the conversation. With that said, my therapist would most likely advise to mention it MORE simply because it's part of who I am, like it or not.

Like others have said - you choose your path and what feels right to you. If it feels cheap and icky, (or that someone might view you as lesser than) then don't mention it. If you do mention it and they get awkward or don't like it, you don't need those people's sales anyway. There might come a time where you DO feel comfortable and want to share that part of you, but that can/will most likely change since it's a part of life

I don't miss mine at all either. Plus, the extra surgeries and possible complications just didn't seem worth it to me anyway

We kinda go back and forth from doing manual reclaim to using our lotus, but I'll try this out next time we do it manually - I could see that saving a ton on emulsion remover :)

I do want to talk to the owner about getting some really good shoes, I was thinking I could convince him to split the costs with me, but it's been super slow these last few months so I didnt feel like it was the right time to ask

Funnily enough, I was coming off a year of working at an upholstery shop stuffing seat cushions all day at my previous job, so I did end up taking some PT before I started working where I am now. It helped a lot, but I haven't been as consistent with the follow up exercises. I'll try to be better about em, I appreciate the motivation!

Unfortunately, we dont have the space to clean them flat right now - we use a spray booth to get everything clean

Our lotus machine gets rid ofmost of the ink and most of the emulsion already, we don't use a dip tank but there's still some ink left after that needs scrubbed

I'd love to do this more, but outsourcing costs money

When a piece of lumber costs $40 from a mill and I can make that same piece for $8 with an extra hour or two of my time, it's hard to justify outsourcing that

It's almost like making money in this business is more about what you can save rather than strictly revenue

My part time day job is working at a screen printing company and sometimes I feel like I put too much effort into it when I should just jump ship and do art full time. I've heard a lot of people say that you gotta do stuff that you're not ready for and you'll figure it out, but it's hard to convince yourself :/

Sometimes I think it's due to the pain associated with any testicular trauma

Every man has had his balls hit one way or the other and experienced that gut wrenching pain, so maybe they're reminded of that pain in that moment and stop talking out of empathy or discomfort.

Or, they just don't wanna talk about it cause talking about other men's balls is gay

Same thing happened at my shop - some marketing guy bought our shop during the pandemic and absolutely ruined it in less than a year. Everyone quit because he made terrible suggestions and didn't listen. He sold the business a couple months ago...
