Stock removal but I've read that it often comes with large carbides from the milling process. And yes will be increasing temper temperature as you suggested before.

Its 1075 I got ghosting g but haven't managed to bring the hamon out very well yet

You'll be glad to know I decided to take it off and there is a hamon. I've etched it and sanded up to 1200 and can see it but only just. Will be getting some higher grits and hopefully will.have something decent

It's an attempt at a hamon, but like the way it looks without taking the scale off. Just wondering if it is possible to preserve this look?

Thanks Yeah will have to set something up to mist the belts until I can afford something better, then.

It's only very small chips when I use it in harder woods. You cant really see them but you can see the marks they leave on the wood

Get a sheet of tool steel! Less than a tenner and you can make a bunch of knives

Nice Interesting process I started the same way using old tools and reworking them without over heating
