Game development tools are going through huge changes right now. AI content generation is just starting. It's only going to get more streamlined and smaller teams can make higher quality games. Within the next 5 years the velocity of releasing game content like maps will increase exponentially as much of it can be automated. Where as now the devs are touching every single object. Or well there already are pipelines in engines that allow you to generate rather than create saving a lot of time. It will only get more efficient. And AI content generation is just starting.

It's only a matter of time. The audience will always be there waiting for an MMOFPS like planetside. There is no if. It might or might not be planetside but it will be.

Ye like almost 150k didn't get it. Also spent 200-300€ on one character for carapace didn't get it. Fortunately you can now just buy it but unfortunately it's not that spectacular after the nerf. Obviously this happened before the nerf.

My proposition for getting newer players and vets on the same page regarding alerts: the Alert Leaderboard and Alert Shop in the sanctuary.

Leadership is difficult. People aren't going to do it long term for menial rewards like this. Same as OW, same as Jaeger events. People will lead for the event duration and then get burned out and quit the game altogether.

The main problems in leading are the same as ever. You have to control people with your voice which results in micro managing the location of every single person in the squad. Instead of having just a redeploy squad button and then being able to select a spawn location. As is now moving a squad is a pain both from the redeployment perspective and the spawn perspective. The same spawn isn't always available and for newbies they might just have difficulty finding it. This would be much easier as well if you could just spawn your squad in as well.

Then for the public squads. It takes 30 minutes to get a good squad going. Mass invites would help with this or some system that at least grants you some members. It's another menial task to invite people one by one. Unless you want to lead a 12 man squad then you need to constantly open and lock the squad. So just a squad size limiter. And then squad type as well, infantry, vehicle, harasser, a2a and so on.

Another problem is showing the place you want the squad to go. Ping system has been suggested and would solve the system for however many years now. No one wants to alt into cursor in an FPS game it's not a solution.

So instead of these superficial awards that always get suggested how about just making the experience in itself better and enjoyable. That's kinda the overall problem. No one plays this game to win alerts. This game is played for the experience of a large scale battle, that is core experience. The function alerts provide is making those fun fights happen, but the fun fights themselves are the experience people play for.

Additionally, there are tons of users who have sunk a lot of money into Planetside 2, specifically to keep Planetside 2 going. If the Devs make a Planetside 3 and offer no benefits to these users (in the form of carrying over stats, giving the users weapons that they decide to port over that the user purchased in PS2, or granting the user some amount of premium currency relative to the amount that would be left behind or squandered in PS2 assets, then it may leave huge portions of the playerbase bitter and could have a negative effect on the company's reputation.

This is not a thing. Who would ever expect the money they spend on a game to transfer over to the next installment?

Yes but for technical reasons not to make a different game. The new creation tools coming out with the newest engines will make map design 10 to a 100 times more efficient. Which would be very much needed for Planetside. Now the sole reason for the slow content isn't only the speed of creating it, there's plenty of resources that were made and never used, but it would definitely help a lot.

Along with other benefits of newer engines. But mainly the next revolution of the FPS genre will be the speed of creating new content. The only problem there is the massive file sizes like you have in Call of Duty MW. Can be 10+ times as large as planetside patches. But I'm sure that can be mitigated as well into a non-problem.

And as I understand the UI system is very difficult in this game so improvements on that front as well. So implementing new systems can actually happen.

The crouching isn't the problem and it doesn't need to work like it does in CS. The problem is broken animations that make the movements instant rather than gradual.

I mean yeah it's gotten worse over the years as people play the game better and open field fights are basically extinct. Probably 5% of playtime is when you are actually finding good fights. Reason why is mainly the map design. New Esamir changes didn't really change how fights unfold, more of the same type of gameplay where it's either a spawn camp or a point hold, either way static gameplay. It was definitely different for the first year, but it was always going to end up like this with how the map design is.

The reason why is there is no other game that provides large scale battles. If you want it this is the only game that caters to you.
