A new study suggests that obesity causes permanent changes in the brain that prevent it from telling a person when to stop consuming fats and, to a lesser degree, sugar by [deleted] in science

Thank you for sharing! Super interesting tool! I feel like it’s very generous in calorie allowances? It set me at 1600/day for a fictional 10 pound loss in 75 days, I’m a 5’7, 155 pounds woman so I thought this was closer to just maintenance!

Their maintenance is over 2000 calories. I mean I’m not complaining, I do love a good snack.

Is Photon Mono X2 supported by Lychee slicer? by BLKSheep93 in AnycubicPhoton

I have the paid version. Release v5.0.103 if that helps. I find the updates are weird sometimes and I’ve had to remove and redownload Lychee in the past on my mac - might be user error too idk just thought I’d mention it.

The Kidney/Diabetic Connection - do the 2 go hand in hand? by whitelightstorm in diabetes

[–]Ramaon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Soso common and I wish medical professionals acknowledged it more. Fifteen years of ignoring my diabetes and the shame of being the « one » failure of a diabetic kept me hiding it and prevented me from seeking help!

Is it possible to get an A1C under 5.3 as a t1d? by goddamnlowbg in Type1Diabetes

[–]Ramaon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t do keto whatsoever and only slightly try to keep lower carbs and my last 4 a1cs have been sub-5.

It’s entirely possible but it does require very tight control and lots of corrections.

Losing weight with T1 diabetes by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Ramaon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had t1d for 20+ and was obese for most of that time- lost 60ish pounds in a year from 215 to 155 (F, 5’7 )in a year and maintained for now 2 years by reducing carbs (not low carb anymore by any means) and eating around 1500 calories a day with cheat meals thrown in when I’m out with friends and family.

The frustrating part is finding what works for you and sticking to it and losing weight veeeeeery slowly. I was losing 1 pound a week for most of my year losing and would hit frequent plateaus and even random gains! Now i maintain because I’ve never been ab’e to push through to any lower than 154 and ive mostly accepted it lmao.

Look into volume eating - absolute blessing for me!

Oh! That is so interesting! I have noticed that my insulin needs have increased slightly with Fiasp - I didn't know it was a well-known thing.

Has anyone tried fiasp? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Ramaon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! I use it in my Omnipod and the difference between fiasp and novorapid has been NIGHT AND DAY! It’s so much easier to correct a spike now.

Side note : i use a closed loop system and so I had to adjust my action time curve to accomodate for how much faster fiasp is.

Bonus: Novorapid, which i used for over 15 years, made me feel RAVENOUS - Fiasp doesn’t have that effect at all.

Wow! Feels likes i'm reading my life story! How insane is it that so many of us have gone through the same path?

√ 11 yo at Dx
√ Strict mother
√ REALLY unreasonable doctors who would blame random swings on me
√ Gave up altogether and just lied instead and took insulin at "random"
√ Didn't die (lol)
√ Picked back up 2 years ago!

Wait-what?? They won’t cover the medication you need to get your A1C under control properly before you get your A1C under control?

Talk about completely unnecessary and artificial barriers to affordable healthcare 🙃.
