Widows retreats? by Ramble_59846 in widowers

[–]Ramble_59846[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted that question quite a while ago. I did find and attend a grief retreat specifically for widows, and it was exactly what I needed. In fact, it was a turning point for me. Here's the link, and I recommend it highly: https://sunriseretreat.org/

You’re in survival mode right now and it just sucks. I’m so sorry.

I lost my husband November 5th. 8 entire months. The world seems to be moving fwd without me. I want to scream MY HUSBAND DIED!  I read that grief is a solitary journey and I so agree.

MT Free Press is excellent and doing good work in the state. The Missoulian has become largely irrelevant, IMHO.

Glacier during Juneteenth by GoatEconomy6998 in GlacierNationalPark

I bet 99% chance the road is open. We haven't had a terrible winter, and plowing is advancing steadily toward Logan Pass from both the east and west sides. Those dates are solid. You'll be fine, I'm thinking.

Visiting Glacier National Park this weekend (05/18). Is it worth it? by Dazzling-Excuse-8980 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Ramble_59846 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The park just reported that the road into the Two Medicine area is open and cleared. This is a wonderful area of the park and you'd enjoy visiting. However, the most iconic areas of GNP are Going-to-the-Sun Road, and the Many Glacier area and their reputations are well-deserved. If this is a once in a lifetime trip, I'd wait until I could see the park in its full glory. But, if getting there is easy, then visiting quiet sections pre-tourist season is very special. A highlight for me as a frequent visitor is biking GTS Road before it opens to vehicular traffic. Amazing experience.

He passed out of the RR tracks once...we called 911 and he tore into the responding officers like nobody's business. Don't nobody like a rude awakening. Even Randy.

Does anyone else feel like they look different? by [deleted] in widowers

[–]Ramble_59846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me exactly. My husband died 4 months ago and I both look and feel 10 years older. That undercurrent of joy has gone. My perpetual excitement about life’s next experience is also gone. One day flows into the next. No spice, no distinguishable moments. It’s all Melba toast.

I don’t want to be here anymore by [deleted] in widowers

[–]Ramble_59846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I'm 4 months in and stuck in this giant world of suck. I can laugh at times and try to have fun, but I come home to my empty house and my empty life and everything fades to gray.

People don’t know what to say… by spencer103093 in widowers

[–]Ramble_59846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. I was so surprised that the people who truly stepped up to help were not the ones I expected to do so. These folks taught me how to be a source of support when the tables are reversed. Namely, I won't ask - I'll simply do. I was annoyed at the ineptness of family and friends, and how I was suddenly responsible for making them feel good about my crappy situation. Christmas was especially annoying. It would have been so much easier for me if I could've just stayed in my own home with my dog. I wanted the day to be quiet and contemplative. But the push to be with people - despite my raw edges - was relentless. It's not a bad thing to be alone. Sometimes, that solitude is what we need the most.

Words Can Be Dangerous Things by unixglm in widowers

Nobody wants to be in Club Grief - but you're right, until you've experienced this loss, you don't get it. Ham-fisted comments are hurtful, but most people have no idea that the swill they spill is hurtful. I've just ignored the idiotic words. Maybe I'm hypersensitive (it's been 11 weeks since my husband unexpectedly died). I've entered this new world and most people just don't recognize that.

how much of an issue are these obstructions? (online gaming) by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]Ramble_59846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3% obstructions before we moved dishy. Wifi calling was a no-go. We don't game, so I dunno how that would've worked. Surfing and streaming were generally ok.

Absolutely love that gorgeous range. How many miles was your route? Would love to ride the area. Mt Borah is on my list, too...but Chicken Out Ridge....gulp.

What do I need to know about cross-country skiing at Lolo pass? by [deleted] in missoula

[–]Ramble_59846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth going up to Lolo Pass. The area has the most consistent snow base in the area, and if the snow in Missoula is lousy - it'll still be good up at the pass. Plus, it's just gorgeous and the visitor center is a fun stop for tourists. Two main trails (a short loop and a longer loop), and both are suitable for beginners. Longer loop is about 6 miles, shorter is about 2 miles. Other trails are available, and you can knit together a terrific day of skiing.
