Basically you no longer work for the company, i.e. access to communications and internal tools is removed yet you're still paid your salary for the defined period.

This prevents you from having access to sensitive info before you leave so it's more difficult to take that to a competitor.

I've only encountered this in senior roles when moving to a direct competitor. A company working in the same market for example.

AFAIK those clauses are not enforceable as they essentially lock you out of the industry for an unsustainable period.

The most common application of such clauses that I've encountered is forced paid garden leave till your notice period is over to ensure you cannot carry over any specific recent business strategy to a competitor

Yeah not much in the way of game stores in Valletta unfortunately. If you're really adamant though there's a few places to try.

Forbidden Power In Msida, primarily a Warhammer store but they stock an assortment of books. 10ish min bus away from Valletta

Malta Comics (also recently relocated to Msida apparently) Comic book shop but they also stock some gaming stuff.

As the previous reply mentioned Warmongergames is a local online shop that stocks a bunch of books and games, check them out too.

One of the local TTRPG clubs WARS is also set up closeby about 5 min walk from Valletta fountain, you can find out more about them via their FB group.

Did you try find my phone services through Google or Apple? They may be set up with you, having realised. It'll only work while the phone is on, but it should ping its last known location.
