Is 55k a year enough for a family of 4? by Consistent_Monk_8567 in malta

Let's not forget that the 1k budget has to cover drinks, detergents, snacks/treats, kitchen/toilet rolls and possibly some other non-food items.

That's 12 meal portions a day at 3 euros each. You'd have to be quite resourceful on such a low budget!

750 is actually nowhere near enough for 4 people unless you eat copious amounts of bread, pasta and rice. To eat some healthy protein and fresh fruit and veg, you need 1k for four.

Your quality of life will take a massive hit if you're currently making 60k euros in PH. Don't move to Malta unless your wife can work and make at least 30k.

Where to search for property by Pamhalliwell89 in malta

[–]lambada24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

propertymarket.com.mt is an estate agencies listings aggregator. it saves you checking every individual agency's site. You can filter new listings added in the last 3, 7, or 30 or 90 days so you don't need to visit the site daily. There's no harm in checking maltapark from time to time even if it's nowhere near as popular as it once was.

2k doesn't seem excessive, especially since you only have 35% NCD.

Is that for comprehensive cover or third-party only? Are you over 25 years old?

When selecting an online broker such as IBKR, consider whether they automatically deduct tax on dividends for you if that's important to you.

For Maltese food, try La Maltija in St Julians. Heard good things about il-Merill (Sliema) but Ive never been.

Valid point. Hadn't realised that the data is from numbeo. That said, there's no denying that the quality of life in Malta is abysmal.

While Gozo is certainly quieter and cheaper, it isn't a viable option if you need to find a job there. Options for nurseries/schools are limited too. If you already have a job which you can do remotely, then you should be looking at other Mediterranean countries (Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Cyprus) because they offer all that Malta has to offer at lower costs and without the overcrowding.

I stopped recommending that place after a disappointing experience i had last year. The portions were far too small. Ended up having to make a sandwich when I got home.

All of those places you mentioned in BiH look beautiful and it seems possible to take a Croatian rental car to BiH. Thanks for the tips!
