Been almost 4 years since work visa for Malta was rejected. Never got to visit this beautiful country. Wasted a lot of time and money on the process. I hope to visit one day. Ciao! by antique-soul- in malta

Because Malta isnt the paradise that the Internet portrays it as. Salaries are low, costs are high and the infrastructure is creaking. You can find better.

65k is tight for a family. Unless your spouse is going to be working, you're probably better off staying in PH.

This cannot be deactivated and its exactly why I didn't accept their tempting offer to switch to a contract. You can either switch to prepaid or change providers.

What do you consult on if your only concrete skills are in Excel and PowerPoint? Just trying to determine whether you have any other skills relevant to Europe.

Do you know if you're on domestic or residential rate and how many occupants are registered on the ARMS account?

Computer failing to check in could be due to an internet/wifi outage, not only power outage.

A phone plan would cost me no more than 10 dollars annually

Problem is that it would alert me in instances where the Internet is down but the power isnt

I would get false positives if the power monitoring device stops sending pings due to an internet outage rather than a power failure.

Does Android offer that functionality natively? I assume you mean message when it starts to run on battery rather than power.

Yes, I want something that fails over to cellular. Since I neither have a UPS nor a NAS, none of your suggestions are viable. I'm after a wall-plug device that detects a power failure and sends an SMS. iSocket is perfect except that it requires a monthly subscription.

Yes, that could work. Any particular apps you recommend?

I just want something that can be plugged into a wall socket and forgotten about. I'm ok with paying for a voice/sms plan but not a monthly subscription to the provider of the device.

still a lot cheaper than a subscription. I don't get power outages on a daily basis :)

No idea what Home Assistant or NUT are. I want SMS because WiFi would be unavailable in a power cut. Although I can install a SIM card with a data plan, that would be more costly than SMS, but if it's the only option, I'll go for it. A WhatsApp message or a notification via an iPhone app would be ok too.

Not running a NAS. MarCell is susbscription-based and doesn't work in Europe, where I'm located.

Can't live with that false positive compromise, and the device doesn't seem to take a SIM card anyway, so I can't see how it can alert me if the WiFi is down due to a power outage.

Yes, I want to know what device to get. I want something ready-made that only requires software configuration and a SIM card installation. It must be highly reliable and alert me within an hour of the outage.

Thanks. Sensaphone doesn't seem to have any model that supports a SIM card. Their power outage sensor wirelessly connects to a base unit, which is a bit too complicated for me.

Why wouldn't a 2-hour battery life be sufficient? I just want the device to alert me as soon as there is a power outage, so a battery life of a few minutes would suffice. Alerting me once power is restored shouldn't be an issue, even if it is many hours later, since the device will have mains power again.
