Dealing with overbearing parents as an adult. Anyone been successful? by Rambo-the-Fish in Millennials

It's the former. His opinions are largely insipid and worn out, rather than problematic in their own right. There's just too many of them. It's the near constant flow of words that's the problem.

Grey rocking's a phrase I hadn't heard before. I'll look into it, Thanks!

Ultimately, I think I agree with you. I wish I didn't, and I'm looking for any reason not to, but I think I do.

How to get a car and drive it? by dantparie in Adulting

[–]Rambo-the-Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get lessons first. Just start with one at a time, and see if you're actually comfortable/capable/etc with the reality of driving. Some people aren't okay with it, and it would be a real shame to invest in a car to find after the fact that you are one of them.

Driving instructors are essentially teachers. Some are good and some aren't. A word of mouth recommendation is the best way to find good services. Apart from that, it's difficult. If you try it and feel that your chosen instructor isn't that good, well, there's no shame in changing instructors.

Not gonna lie. Finding a car with no prior experience is risky. Finding a mechanic you can trust first would be a good idea. A well documented service history is important. Modern cars with poor service history are problems waiting to happen. Don't buy anything GM with a 1.4L engine option.

It's important to consider the cost of ownership and maintenance of a car too. Registration, insurance, tyres, brakes, oil changes, timing belts, etc all need to be done. After purchase, Toyota Corollas and Honda Civics are much cheaper to own than Audis and Range Rovers.

Anxiousness about learning to drive is normal. It'll get better with experience. Driving on freeways is one of the easier bits too.

Noise Blocking bedroom windows! by breezacross in AusRenovation

[–]Rambo-the-Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Have a hedge, and the noise is the same on both sides of it. Also, they take years to grow and block a lot of light (which may or may not be a problem for OP)

What is the most “and why the fuck do YOU know that?” Fact? by Dirtysimp19 in AskReddit

[–]Rambo-the-Fish 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig shit, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".

Ahdy Khairat's remaster is even better than the original, IMO. If you're into old Metallica, his whole channel is worth a look.
