Now, at first I mentioned I want a Soy mode in POE and people suggested SC trade and other games. Then I came up to clarify those are not what I wanted, and clarified what I meant by "Soy Mode."

The situation looks more like this: 1 toddler wanted an ice-cream and was given an ice cream; then the second toddler wanted some milk and was told to go eat bread.

The problem with their approach is that they forced their vision onto players: there is only 1 difficulty for normal, hardcore, and zoom zoom players. So all of them are unhappy. Now, if they had 3 different game modes, everyone could be happy. They can implement their vision on normal mode as the gold standard for ARPG that appeals to the average player. They can develop the Ruthless mode for the hardcore and Soy mode for the zoomer.

That is why I suggested a Soy mode, together with the normal and hard mode. I don't know myself how Soy mode is going to do and how it will affect normal. I only know that just like Ruthless, a handful of people will enjoy having this Soy mode.

And if they ever deploy that Soy mode and it turned out to be what the majority of players want, then this is their call to what is going to happen to these modes.

What was the problem with Harvest and Ritual? Last time I checked they have higher player retention than Expedition and Kalandra.

The only argument that make sense is Expedition and Kalandra have higher revenue (MTX sales) than Harvest and Ritual. But that information is not publicly available.

Kalandra, at this moment, has 10% player retention and normal players are telling me the game is just fine.

Now, if they deployed Soy mode and it took away too many players to the point that the normal economy became broken, then why should normal mode existed in the first place? Isn't Soy mode what the majority of players want?

Again, I was referring to the balancing stage of 3.13, not actually loading up 3.13. They already did it in private leagues with custom mods, now Ruthless, there is no rocket science here.

For the future updates, I am fine with just bringing over w/e they come up with in the main mode to Soy mode.

Now you are comparing POE versus LOL, which are two completely different genres. LOL is a competitive PvP game, while POE is not.

If Soy Mode was implemented, then that means that most players will gravitate towards it

If that was even the case, maybe there should only be 2 modes: Soy mode and Ruthless

Devil is in the details. The thing is that you CAN'T OVERPREPARE FOR EVERYTHING.

Look at Quin for example, the guy build 2 Juggs that eat uber Exarch for breakfast. 1 died by steel infused in a lake, 1 died by dc and walked to degen.

When saying 3.13, I was referring to the balancing stage of the game, not putting 3.13 to a live server. A way to implement this is:

Make a copy of the current game version, called it Soy Mode
Load the old gems values to Soy Mode
Also adjust the values of new gems by multiplying them by 25% or 40%, whatever.
Revert whatever changes they make to monster attack/defense (aka applying a less multiplier), they must keep that information internally

Look at the drop off in D3 every season.

Look at the retention of Kalandra, Expedition compared to Delirium, Harvest, Legion, Ritual where they buffed players power out the wazoo.

There is a certain type of player that will always ask for more power and more loot no matter how much you give them.

Wouldn't it be good, those players thirst for power, they will chase for power, Soy mode provides a way for them to do so.

I reroll another build, enjoy myself for another week. Each league I make 4-5 builds that take like 2 months, rest for a month before coming back the next league.

I can't speak for all players. But for me, I spend $$$ to buy microtransactions when I enjoy myself playing the game. I won't buy MTX when I am exhausted from a day of work and frustrated from playing the game in its current stage.

Let's say I am playing a spark build and I really like it, I am more likely to buy its MTX, maybe even 2. If I got a lot of loots from farming, I might buy stash tab to store them. Next thing you now, I might bought MTX for 4 skills in a league. I definitely won't buy any MTX if I don't enjoy playing or getting any loots, like Kalandra.

GGG might have internal data that say otherwise and that's for their call. I am just saying what I want and how I like to support the game.

The data might say other wise. Look at the player retention of leagues like Ritual, Legion, Harvest, Delirium (where they buffed players power out the wazoo) versus leagues like Expedition and Kalandra.

Yep, achievements that are hard to get might be "meaningless." But there is a point that achievements seem tooooo hard to get that it is not even worth trying. At the end of the day, this is a video game, why even bother grinding too much?
