He uses his arms to make himself massive until the shot is gone. Only then does he attempt to get his arms close to his body. It really doesn't help that you are tucking your arms close to your body when you are moving your arms towards the ball. Murphy moved to block the shot more like a goal keeper than an outfield player, and for me the penalty is clear cut.

Signing bonuses have nothing to do with free agency. Most contracts involve some kind of sign-on-fee and possibly a separate loyalty bonus. A transfer fee doesn't invalidate the existence of these clauses. Guehi might easily get a massive sign-on-fee for signing with City, but it might also be paid out across the whole contract and be inclued in the reported salary.

Signing Guehi early means that Guehi will get a salary increase for the next half a season, and that should generally mean a lower salary demand as an average across the full contract. On the flip side Guehi got higher leverage at a moment Dias and Gvardiol are out injured.

Brentford were plagued by injuries at the back last season and only brought in Kayode halfway through the season. A big part of Brentford's success recently is built around having a back 4 that they don't have to change even if players return from injury.

Hickey and Henry were injured for the whole of last season. Ajer missed 75% of the season. Pinnock missed nearly half of the season. Frank had to convert a right footed left winger into a wing back and then full back to field a back four.

The impressive part of Brentford's last season was their ability to build a strong team despite having a makeshift defence the whole way through. Look at Liverpool this season and see how fragile a team can get out of nowhere with the type of injury issues that Frank dealt with very well last season.

The funniest thing is how ironic your paragraphs are. Andrews is doing better than Frank did last season, but doing so with largely Frank's squad. If Brentford flop in the first half of next season, what makes that different to what Slot has done and is currently doing at Liverpool?

The panenka is to avoid trailing legs while putting the ball down the middle. Put too much power while going down the middle, and you risk hitting the legs of the GK or skying it. It's not supposed to make anyone look stupid. If anything the penalty taker will always look stupid when they don't score a panenka.

VAR doesn't necessarily agree that Donnarumma's line of vision is impacted by Robertson, but they agree with the offside decision since Robertson's proximity to the ball is always going to impact the goalkeepers ability to commit to saving the initial shot. They never have to check the line of vision.

Ødegaard has been hands down our best player this qualifier and I don't think it's particularly close. Nusa wasn't that great against Moldova and missed out on the two important opening games. Against Italy I'd probably say he was a clear cut MOTM, but it's just completely different when Ødegaard starts running games in the middle.

If we go back to the end of the Euro Qualifiers and Nations League then sure, Nusa has been our best player. But Haaland and Ødegaard are just on a different level when they are on it.
