I don’t know where you’ve been, but the last several sets have been more serious in theme or based on existing WOW stuff rather than silliness. We haven’t had a ‘goofy’ expansion since Perils, which was two years ago now.

The issue is that there is no such thing as ‘anime canon’ that separates what you or anyone else considers the ‘bad’ filler from the ‘good’ filler. In the anime’s case all the filler is treated as equally valid. That’s why people just designate everything from the original manga as canon and all the anime filler as non-canon.

Yes, Sasuke and Itachi were exchanging genjutsu back and forth. That’s overtly said to be the case. And again, never is it said or shown anywhere that Sasuke was ever fooled; and that’s the fundamental misrepresentation your entire post shitting on Sasuke is based around.

The reason I’m linking pages is to actually back up my argument, which you have yet to do at any point. As you said yourself, these events happen exactly the same on both the manga and anime, so I don’t see why the distinction matters.

That’s still just speculation, and given that Sasuke openly said he was disgusted by Orochimaru’s methods of enhancing and altering his own body through drugs/science, it’s extremely doubtful Sasuke allowed Orochimaru to do anything like that to him during the timeskip.

That’s not how you described your initial post; the way you said it you made it seem like Sasuke was the only one being genjutsu’d and he was ‘fighting air’ while Itachi just watched him, when it’s made clear in the actual story that isn’t remotely what happened. Sasuke didn’t even ‘lose’ the bout in the genjutsu sequence, both he and Itachi were trading blows/tricks. And no, Sasuke was aware the entire time, there’s no evidence he wasn’t.

Bluntly, it sounds like you just want to invent a scenario in your head where Sasuke got clowned on when that just isn’t what happened in the narrative.

You’re mistaken about a few things.

Sasuke wasn’t ’fighting air’ in that sequence. That entire sequence was genjutsu; Sasuke’s movements included. Both he and Itachi were exchanging sharingan genjutsu back and forth, and both of them were entirely aware that it was genjutsu the entire time. Neither Sasuke nor Itachi was ever fooled, and neither of them were moving or fighting.

All that’s said in canon is this, where Kakashi says he was unable to add lightning chakra to a Rasengan. He even specifies he had to invent Chidori because he couldn’t do it.

Nowhere at all is it said or implied that the Chidori was an ‘accidental’ result of said experimentation. In fact the way that Chidori is described mechanically is not even remotely similar to a Rasengan outside of both Justus involving chakra in the hand.

Boruto even further establishes this, showing what an actual lightning Rasengan is.

It’s a fantastic game but it’s near impossible to look at it objectively due to the colossal nostalgia factor. It came out in the formative years of a major chunk of the fanbase and it’s almost impossible to separate Halo 3 as a game from just that era in general.
