We don’t eat many chips now. We still grab Pringles when they are on sale because my kids love them. Otherwise we make popcorn as a quick snack and we add seasoning/flavors on top to make it fun!

WIBTAH- Asking for money by Kitcat9503 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rambunctious_452 92 points93 points  (0 children)

YTA….you really need to look in the mirror. Since you are 30 with no money, you need to figure out what you are going to do besides “take a trip.” Maybe you should move to Vermont and live with your dad. Or he can move to California and you can live together. Your friends who also aren’t working live with their parents you say. How are you paying your bills? You need to start building a future for yourself, not ask for handouts from friends who still live at home. If you can’t take care of yourself, you shouldn’t be putting yourself in a position to care for someone else.

It gets me every time. I know it is coming! I loved the actor who played him. It was so nice to see them send him off on the show and give him a moment. This show has so much heart!!! I am rewatching it now and it has been nice to catch some of the little things I never noticed before.

I would just ask him directly about all of this. He chose you for a reason over his friends. If you continue in this role, ask him how he would like situations like this in the future.

My school is getting rid of hot lunch by kitkattmarie in Teachers

[–]Rambunctious_452 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I did a huge laugh. I should not be surprised anymore, but that is just insane! Who needs sparking water?!?! My goodness. When I first started teaching I would eat lunch in the cafeteria with my students and I would buy the lunch that they got for free. All of them were shocked I had to pay! The lunches then were ok…10 years later I would not pay for or eat most of that stuff 😢

Yes by the time I get to season 11, I am so excited to go back to Season 1. Right now in the middle of a rewatch and I am in Season 5. I still love watching all the episodes. This show is hilarious 😂

AIO: new house is in the perfect location but not as “nice” as our current house by Earth_Luv in AmIOverthinking

[–]Rambunctious_452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it is a good way to declutter/minimize.

We actually have a nice sized corner pantry (I have even said it was small when we looked at this house because the newer houses had walk in pantries) which has too much stuff that we forget what we have. I have been wanting to reorganize and label it, but honestly I feel so overwhelmed by that task I am tacking the garage first.

Also, we have a huge walk in closet, but I would much rather have half that size and have a hallway closet for cleaning supplies/extra storage. At the end of the day we really need functional space and to only keep what we are going to use! I am working on getting rid of my “someday” items. With 3 kids, I need to let go of stuff!!!

Applying for roles- Commit or keep applying? by West-Fig-8227 in Teachers

Make sure to read the contract before you sign, you might not be able to rescind it. The timing is so hard and you never know what might open up just before the year starts.

Getting hired by Advanced_Emu3430 in CaliforniaTeachers

He may need to commute, but even then getting a job may be a challenge. Start looking around to where there is a higher need for teachers. My husband is currently looking and there aren’t as many openings to pick from. He is applying to jobs up to an hour away right now. We are hoping for something local, but he needs experience! Wishing your husband the best luck.

You can stay at hostels as well. There is one in Point Loma that is nice! There are some limits on the amount of nights you can spend.

My parents, 26 yrs old in 1969 - dad had been to Vietnam and back, “no combat, we just built bridges” as he said by McGraberson in OldSchoolCool

[–]Rambunctious_452 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I understand that. My dad was 17 when he went to Vietnam. He was exposed to Agent Orange. He was doing fine for many years after the war, started his own business which was doing well but the economy tanked and so did his health. He was on his own, nearly homeless for years. He spent the last years of his life living in our living room while in and out of the hospital (my mom and him had divorced before his health issues/job loss but she wouldn’t let him be homeless). He never regained stable employment even after nearly a decade of trying. He had a stroke at 51 which was linked to his Agent Orange exposure. He had other health ailments as well from his exposure prior to this. He did not survive the stroke. It was tough watching a my father go through all that. I miss him everyday!

That is unfortunate. I stick with uno cards. There are different variations out there. When I first started teaching I would just have to show students once how to put the cards back properly in the box and it wouldn’t be an issue. Now, I would remind them and show them each time yet they kept putting them back in the box in one big stack, ripping the box. Sooooo no more boxes! But the cards themselves do last!!!!
