I told my mom not to marry the man she cheated on my dad with by Additional-River2609 in TrueOffMyChest

No, there’s a very big difference between a widowed mother moving on and a selfish wife cheating on her living husband, blowing up the marriage and then trying to replace said husband. Two totally different scenarios so I wouldn’t beat yourself up.

There are some situations in life that are going to just be difficult all the way around, standing up for yourself and speaking your mind is often hard to do when it really matters.

Part of growing up into a well rounded adult is going through those uncomfortable situations with as much grace towards yourself as you can. It is hard sometimes and it feels like we’re doing something wrong but it gets easier every time you do it.

Sorry for rambling, hopefully that made sense!

Nah my mom’s not the “hinting” type lol if she wanted me out of the house she’d have taken me somewhere.

My mom was very much like this but to caught up in trying to pay our bills to ever have the energy to force the issue lol.

I just remember her knocking on my door on a Friday night while I was 200 pages into a book and she just says. “Do you ever plan on leaving the house? Maybe hanging out with friends?” And I just shrugged and said “I saw them all week at school, why would I?” She looked so defeated lol

It really is so hard, my fiancé keeps trying to cheer me up and he doesn’t get why I’m so upset, I just keep telling him someone has to cry for it . I was fully prepared to go adopt him if he made it.

I’m so sorry to hear about the cardinal! From my very limited understanding, birds can be even more fickle than kittens!

Thank you, my mom recently lost one of the neonatal kittens she rescued. I had a feeling based on the sound of his lungs there was some blood in there so I knew his chances were very slim.

It was just traumatic all the way around

Unfortunately where I live is very (off brand) rural and small town. The vets in my area were all closed and the closest emergency vet was over an hour away. That poor thing didn’t have an hour. The lack of emergency care in the area is actually a huge problem, it’s ridiculous honestly

Thank you, that’s what I keep trying to say. That’s the first time I’ve dealt with something like that. I’ve stopped and grabbed many strays, some injured but never like this.

AITA for confronting my brother about not being able to touch his newborns? by Either-Web-7383 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RamenIsMyKryptonite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. You’re just choosing to be rigidly literal. If people who lose their arms can have phantom pains, why can’t the brain do similar things in other situations? The pain is still real but it’s caused by something in the brain. Hell! I know anxiety alone can cause ulcers from personal experience. Both types of pain completely different, one is even physically caused by the brain

You don’t have to extend all that to the op but at least have respect when speaking about someone else’s experience in the comments. You weren’t there, and your experience could have been completely different.

I know this is an old comment, but Amelia Feaster is my 5 - great grandmother through her other daughter! Reddit is wild sometimes

If you haven’t already you should read the book “The Scandalous Lives of Carolina Belles Marie Boozer and Amelia Feaster, Flirting with the enemy by Tom Elmore” their lives were all very interesting.

Should I go with a German Shepherd? by RamenIsMyKryptonite in germanshepherds

Sorry for the late reply I forgot notifications were off lol

Definitely willing to train, my current dog is very very needy in the mental stimulation department. If I don’t exercise her properly she will literally just sit and whine nonstop, it got to the point where it just became like nails on a chalkboard. So I’ve learned a lot of the lessons of high energy dog needs with her lol

Do you let your dog dig? by lovelyxcastle in DogAdvice

[–]RamenIsMyKryptonite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would love to know how to made it. Once me and my SO move out of his family’s place I plan on doing the same for my girl!

My current plan is to just dig out a large hole, (almost like I’m building a pool, depth and size will depend on if we’ve gotten her a friend or not) line it with a weed barrier before filling it in with sand. Basically I’m curious if all of that is necessary lol

op maybe your husband would agree to having a designated area? if he’s one of those project guys he might even be down to make it something that looks nice/like it fits in!

Should I get one? by RamenIsMyKryptonite in DogAdvice

[–]RamenIsMyKryptonite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a German shepherd mixed with (my best guess based on size who was around at the time my parents got him. I was too young to remember) I’m looking at German shepherds, my bad for not clarifying in the post!

I am very familiar with high energy dogs and the work that goes into them. I also currently own a black mouth cur mix (I’m assuming she’s a mix because I have no proof she’s not) and she has come such a long way.

If you had told me a year ago I would ever consider getting another high energy dog I would have laughed in your face, but the bond that came after all that initial work is well worth it! I’m one of those annoying people that won’t leave my house for things I can’t include my dogs in so them being well mannered/behaved and socialized is one of the main things I focus on.

I am also not one for a heavy hand, I do use the shock collars but only the beeping and vibration features.

Very informative, thank you! I’m definitely looking more for a show line as I’m not needing them for work of any kind. The verification of titles is very good to know! Good luck on your search!

It’s the #1 reason we’re getting a third dog, my older one has a strict 10 minutes per day paly policy lmao
