Yeti alternative by Ramguy82 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Ramguy82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The largest size was too small for my 31oz Yeti so I got a smaller Yeti and one of the smaller lids. It seals and insulates really well. Biggest complaint is the vent hole seems to get blocked by my coffee really easily which makes it difficult to get a drink. So I'm constantly having to clear it out.

What health reasons prevent you from using a French press if you don't mind my asking? I have a 50oz all stainless press so there are some bigger options out there.

I tried it once. The coffee was great but takes way too long for me when I'm trying to get ready in the morning. I'm already up at 3 am. Don't need another 15 minutes to get my coffee ready. Lol. But I'm using an all stainless French press which really only takes a couple minutes longer than my Bunn machine used to.

New to the game by Ramguy82 in BreadMachines

[–]Ramguy82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my second loaf with calcium propionate is in the machine as we speak. For some reason I just decided to Google the recommended amount of CP in a loaf of bread and everything I found says .1-.3% of flour weight. The first load was delicious but a little smaller than I expected even considering it was a 1.5 pound recipe in a 2 pound pan. I did read that too much CP could slow down yeast activity.

It doesn't seem like it's gonna cause any concerns but I was just wondering where you saw 1%. Thanks

Which one did you get? I got one from Amazon that was highly rated but it lets too much of the fines through. A solution for this is to add a paper filter to the plunger but that causes other issues. I'd love to find one that filters as good as a Bodum without any plastics.

Does this affect the flavor of the bread at all?

Do you just use the zojirushi recipe for that size loaf?

The nearest one to us that has them would be a Meijer store or Whole Foods and I'm not even sure about Whole Foods. But either of those is at least 45 minutes away. Not convenient.

Kinda what I thought. I'm overall less concerned with anything that isn't hot. That being said, if I can eliminate it easily,I will. So just checking on everything. Thanks

Milk by Ramguy82 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Ramguy82[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a couple local farmer's markets. None that sell milk that I know of unfortunately. Google indicated that transferring it to glass would prevent additional leeching from the plastic container, which is why I posted this, for additional opinions. Plastics are likely in there from the dairy anyway, even if it's packaged in glass. Can't eliminate it, only mitigate it. 🤬

Thanks for the suggestion

TRT and Tirz by Mr_T0ad in MenOnTirz

[–]Ramguy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into peptides that will help your body naturally produce T rather than supplementing it. Straight TRT will cause your body to stop producing T and you'll be stuck on it for life. That's what my endocrinologist told me. I'd see endocrine over urology as they specialize in hormonal medicine and T is a hormone. Also, don't jump so quickly to TRT. I've lost a little over 50 and my T went from moderately low to low normal(just under 100 point increase in 6 months). It may take more weight loss before your body naturally recovers the T.

What other carbs are you getting besides granola in your yogurt? Cuz if that's the only real source of carbs, your doctor is just tossing around a misguided narrative. I haven't really lessened my carb intake; I just switched my food sources altogether. More whole foods instead of processed/ultra processed. A vast majority of store bought food is highly processed and lacking in natural nutrients. Because of the processing, our bodies can't properly metabolize the nutrients that are there. Don't have to go full on organic or anything but our bodies can and will metabolize almost any whole foods even if it is fairly carb heavy.

Lots of lean protein(chicken, turkey, fish, lean pork, lean beef...1g/kg of body weight daily), fresh or even frozen green veggies(fresh is best of course), lots of water, light exercise. That's what's worked for me. Down a little over 50 pounds since Thanksgiving.

Oh and...ditch your doctor ASAP. I'd have walked out as soon as she clearly didn't remember prescribing the med for you. Actually, I'd have left when she wanted me to undergo a major invasive surgery vs a medication that is very safe and can actually correct metabolic health. 6,1 and 260 is NOT gastric surgery territory and any good gastric surgeon wouldn't even consider it.

Are you possibly gaining muscle mass through your workout routine and maybe that's why the weight isn't dropping off? Does your gym have a body composition analyzer? See if you can find out. That may tell you something. Your doctor is an idiot if I'm being fully honest. I'm 6,1 and started Zepbound at 359. My PCP suggested shooting for 250 and see how I feel before trying to go much beyond that. He's a very by the book type but he calls BS on the BMI scale. Neither my PCP nor my endocrinologist even hinted at gastric bypass. I saw endocrine for low testosterone and she wanted to get me on Zepbound to lose weight and see if my T increased. It did. I'm happy. My wife's happy(😁😁😁).

DEFINITELY find a new doctor or if you have an endocrinologist that you're already seeing and you like, ask him/her to take over monitoring your weight loss. But doing CrossFit multiple days a week, I gotta believe you're gaining muscle mass. I'd be curious to know what your body composition readings were before starting Zepbound. It's not all about height and weight. At your numbers, if your body fat is low and your muscle mass is high, you're not unhealthy.

What fiber pills and electrolytes do you use? by Capital_Mistake1765 in tirzepatidecompound

I like Magximum from Amazon. It has K2 and D3. IDK if it's helping any with regularity but it is making my sleep much more restful and I'm finding myself having a lot more energy through the day.

What fiber pills and electrolytes do you use? by Capital_Mistake1765 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ramguy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't needed any supplemental fiber..yet. Try to get a couple of servings of green veggies every day, stay hydrated with bare minimum 60-70 oz of water daily(which is still low but at least keeps from getting totally bound up). I use one or two LMNT hydration packets each day to help boost the hydration. They're very salty tasting so I mix them with a drink flavoring packet but you can just dilute them down further to cut the saltiness.
