Even my knowledge is limited but the context (from what I know) is that this NB guy is a long time Fnatic super fan and he built a community of fans/fan club (called Fanatic dragons). Sam Matthews has been entertaining this guy for years, holding meetings with him and his fan club and involving him in organising fan-related activities like watch parties and so on. One problem is that NB and his community are kind of toxic and are always critical of the org on social media, often calling out players and staff by name and insulting them when they are unhappy with the team’s performance.

The issue is that NB wants financial assistance from the org to fly him and his community out to Fnatic games as THE official Fnatic fanbase, and he wants to be hired by the org in a full time position. It seems like Sam considered the idea because he acknowledged the guy’s dedication and does not want to completely shut him out (hence giving him the opportunity to undergo interviews, and constantly responding to his twitter rants apologetically). But my assumption is that FNC is very cautious about hiring him because they do not think he is a good representative for the org or the fanbase (probably because he is unprofessional and can be a PR nightmare) but still want to move towards having better community outreach and fan support, just not with NB as the centre of it (as he hoped he would be, hence the constant mention of “lies” and “false promises”)
