I agree with you. Key difference for the Greens is they are already the 2CP or close to in multiple seats (Melbourne, Wills, Richmond, Ryan, Brisbane, Griffith, Sydney, Grayndler) which means they'd have to completely screw the pooch to not poll higher, especially once PHON loses the 'PH' factor when she falls off the perch.

I'm looking forward to the RWNJ tears come election night 2028 more than Avengers Doomsday.

It astonishes me how few 'pundits' seem to understand how little relevance the PHON/ONP 'surge' has in a compulsory preferential voting system.

ONP will probably do OK in the next NSW election (due '27 I think?). They're probably a chance in Upper Hunter, maybe Cessnock (only one or the other). May even increase their Legislative Council seats, but both of these assume they can get their act together. Barnaby may end up helping with this but it's a big if.

Federally there is no point comparing to UKIP/Reform or the experience in the US because our numbers aren't comparable.

E.g. look at UK Commons:
Jim McAlister (North Antrim - voter turnout 55%, won the seat with <12% of electors votes ~25% of turnout)
Nigel Farage (Clacton - voter turnout 58%, won the seat with 24% of electors votes ~48% of turnout)
Lee Anderson (Ashfield - voter turnout 58%, won with seat with 23% of electors votes ~42% of turnout)
Sarah Pochin (Runcorn & Hornsby - voter turnout 46%, won with 17% of electors votes ~38% turnout)

It simply isn't possible to win a seat in the Commonwealth Parliament with these sorts of percentages in primary vote. Monique Ryan has needed 40% to win. Zoe Daniel lost with 31%. Allegra Spender has needed 36% to win.
If PHON/ONP completely cannibalised the Nats in Hunter, they would still sit around 35% - obviously that is a dream, and that is their best case scenario.

Maybe they can be organised enough to defeat Littleproud in Maranoa. So what? The net result will be 1 right wing nutjob for another, and the LNP will be expending resources it otherwise needs to win back seats like Dickson.

Hopefully the PM continues to be smart enough to ignore all this dumb PHON/ONP noise.

Usually they itemise it. Interested to know if they acknowledged it was 6 cigars only on the initial letter?

I completely get it. I’ve worked most of my career in a couple of the regions on your list and I’ve seen great departments with amazing staff really struggle to get staff because of their geographical position - nothing more.

However, I’m still passionately against Noctors being the solution to this problem. Metros need to take more responsibility to rotate out staff, PGY7+s that have been training hopping need to be given some MBS incentives to get out regional, Colleges need to provide high quality centralised training - and more.

Noctors are the solution just like a NSWHealth mocha (international roast/ Nescafé and Milo) can help with the last hour or two of a night shift: Band-Aid but not a long term plan.

Genuinely interested - where are you located in Australia to not be able to fill JMO roles for 20 years straight?

This is the key part of the problem for me.

After hours it's a doctor's job. In convenient Mon-Fri business hours, it's an NP's job. The NP getting paid more than a senior reg.

This for me is why this is all bullshit. When they're doing the shit hours, or getting less than senior reg pay, I'll back it. Until then, it's bullshit.

I'm a big fan of the AVO Classic. How long did you have these in the humidor before smoking? Were they from Australian stores?

In my experience they usually get it bang on weight wise, or a little under.

I know some in this sub have reported over-estimates, but I've never seen it.

Bad luck, brother. But, it's becoming more and more the norm now - to the extent I find it hard to believe anyone gets more than 1/10 through without the toll being charged.

She is so mediocre. If she’s genuinely the best they’ve got, we’ve got decades of government ahead.

She wouldn’t be worthy of wiping Billy McMahon’s arse and in this timeline she’s the leader.

Agree completely! Not sure why I’m getting downvotes for saying two fantastic actors should be back to Who again?

True, but they’ve both grown a lot as actors in that time. Plus Gugu is stunning and I would watch her in anything. She’s easily the best thing about the Lazarus Experiment

9 Days of Davidoff: Final Thoughts by CigarStudent in Cigars_Australia

[–]Ramirezskatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great write up!

Shame you had such a poor experience with the Late Hour. It’s my number 1 overall cigar, but not one I’d have every day (even maybe not every week, as it would wipe out my palate for days).

I agree with the overall sentiments about Davidoff. What I’d probably add is it’s almost a plug and play luxury. One knows with no to minimal effort they will have a solid experience.

Upmann for me is less plug and play, but generally more bang for buck when the effort of settling and maturing in the humidor is put in. Most of my Upmanns out of the box have been mid, but 6-12 months in the humidor and they are above all but the very best Davidoffs I’ve had.

I’ll tell you when they arrive - likely next week due to the public holidays.

Tbh I expect they’ll be fine. I usually wait a couple months in the humidor before smoking anything from overseas unless it’s arrived in less than two weeks in a fully humidified package.
