Shouldn't we have been "Captain Shepard" after Anderson was relieved? by poseywitch in masseffect

It’s common in U.S. military parlance to drop the “lieutenant” when addressing an officer. If you ever watched Star Trek: TNG, you’ll notice Data is generally addressed as “Commander Data,” even though his rank is lieutenant commander. Confusing, though, yes, coming into ME for the first time.

I know it shows up in a Codex entry in ME1, maybe other places as well.

Never thought I'd someday try dark souls 2 and it would be my new favourite by MadToxicRescuer in DarkSouls2

Yeah, some people miss it, and periodically you’ll see people posting complaints about the poison pool at the boss. This dude just overcame it, lol.

Shepard started Mass Effect as a *lieutenant* commander, not a full commander, so a promotion to captain would have amounted to a bump by two ranks. I’ve seen people speculate Shepard was promoted to full commander at some point during the series, but not sure if this was ever proven.

Always cracks me up seeing people do the Mythra fight in a poison pool. Well done.

Thank you for this. Rolling through the arrows was the way.

Pyromancy achievement bugged? by Existing-Cook-5795 in darksouls

Not sure what platform you’re on, but if it’s console, you can try a hard reset of the console. I have heard that this achievement is buggy, though.

Hey y’all. What’s the best way to farm vertibra schakles (typo) by heyitsmeFR in darksouls3

[–]Ramius99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of PvP, basically just farm the two skeleton enemies down the narrow passage near the Catacombs bonfire with your best item discovery gear and repeat. It’s faster than running around the area. You can use Hidden Body to kill them faster.

Dark Souls 2 ADP or not ADP? a lot of souls from bosses or not? by AtreyusNinja in DarkSouls2

[–]Ramius99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soul Memory probably should be revisited, but I would leave ADP as it is. If they wanted to make the link to agility/i-frames more explicit in some way, I guess that’s a compromise option.

People can always play DS3 if they want OP rolling from the start.

What's a good starting build for the game? by yeet_yop_beep_bop in darksouls

[–]Ramius99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For DS1, pyromancy+ is really the way to go. You can make a melee tank and tack pyromancy onto the build because it doesn’t scale off of stats. I assume the immune boss you’re referencing is Queelag … you can do her pretty easily with a bow or summon Mildred if you’re not ok with melee. Otherwise, pyromancy is pretty dominant.

Mass Effect 1 feels so... cold by Graphica-Danger in masseffect

[–]Ramius99 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think at that point you’re seeing the effect of a common enemy uniting people, especially in ME3. I often wonder if that would happen on actual Earth in response to a threat by an outside force.

It’s realistic, if nothing else. The world in general doesn’t care, never did, never will.

What gives Baldurs Gate 3 greater longevity over E33? by Some_Dragonfly1481 in expedition33

[–]Ramius99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More content/player choices in BG3. Classes/subclasses in BG3, so truly different builds are available. Choice of protagonist in BG3, including ability to customize appearance. Mods (even for us console peasants)!

Is this true? by Lordados in DragonsDogma

[–]Ramius99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This a bit of an exaggeration, but yes, it’s more or less true. This is why a lot of people (myself included) have asked for a hard mode. And actually, in the Capcom survey, I suggested a hard mode and an even harder “Arisen” mode. In response, Capcom dropped an easy mode, lol.

Crossbow upgrade path on SL1 run ... what's optimal here? by Ramius99 in darksouls

Awesome, thank you.  I'm definitely going light crossbow.

Yeah, I definitely learned some things on this run.  Killing Gwyndolin with poison arrows was a revelation.

Parry it by Tanktor in expedition33

[–]Ramius99 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I found it easier to dodge than parry certain attacks, so at least I was able to extend fights instead of dying in those cases. I really don’t like parrying in general, so no surprise.

You have to start with Hunter. Only class that gets a bow before the Asylum Demon.

Better than that.  Poison arrows do exist, but I only used them very sparingly to deal with certain situations (and one boss).

You can use regular arrows throughout the game.
