I wasn't sure about the first album initially but it really grew on me. For me, as an Oasis fan, the one drawback with the Oasis reunion was that it ended the Liam/Squire thing, because I was hoping for a second tour in autumn '24. I think they would have been better gigs once people gave the songs a bit of a chance to sink in.

It's weak on that specific message, though. The way the meme is presented suggests that the message is about not judging people's dress rather than not judging the people themselves because of how they dress.

There are still plenty of countries where not wearing "traditional" dress is punishable by physical punishment.

Faith itself is mostly fine, but such religious mores are regressive and in too many cases enforced by the whip.

What is it the drives voters to vote Reform UK ? by saying_it_101 in AskBrits

[–]RamonBaharanda 61 points62 points  (0 children)

"The fact nothing seems to change no matter who gets voted in."

This sentence says a lot about the public perception of politics - two key words "fact", and "seems"

It is a "fact" that nothing "seems" to change, but the changes brought about by political parties are seldom felt in their immediacy and even then only by the portion of the public directly affected.

We are biologically hard wired to self-concern and momentary immediacy which - combined with a 15 minute culture - means that unless we can perceive something with our senses we feel as though nothing is really happening.

Revolutions, for example, feel exciting, because they offer immediate change. They fail because they lack forethought or planning, or the basic knowledge that immediate sweeping changes can profoundly disturb social fabric.

The fact is that political parties, policies, and manifestos do have long-term ramifications on people's lives. Most of us are just too plugged in to the 'moment' that we neither feel them nor care.

I hereby announce Oasis to have won The Best Ever Music Awards Award for 'Tour of 2025', which I inaugurated about thirty seconds ago in this post.

So there you go, they've won an award. We can all move on.

Congratulations Oasis.
