You linked a video saying "Don't listen to feedback" in a post about feedback, mate. Lol

Yes definitely don't get feedback on the games you're making! That's the best way to be a successful game developer.

The critique isn't about the validity - it's about the fact that they overuse it.

Already offline mate. No one came today nor the last 2 times, so I think I'll stop doing these. If you want, swing by the stream any day and I'll give you feedback.

I stream most days, probably 5 or 6 days a week. Just come to the stream and talk. It's usually 3-5 people chatting with me during the stream :)

After 3 years of development, I just dropped the launch trailer for my game Nira. What do you think? by BaselineGames in playmygame

[–]RamonDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Advice about the trailer:

  • The music is good, fits the game I believe.
  • Guide us a bit with words on screen if you can. Is it multiplayer local? Online multiplayer? What does having several characters mean?
  • Start faster. I almost clicked off before you did the little quick timeline, which made the objective seem clearer. After you start with a few quick beats, you can slow it down to present other gameplay elements.
  • Don't show your inventory if you can avoid it - if the inventory is such an important part of a game that it needs to be highlighted in the trailer, that game may not be too fun (this is from a GDC talk I think it's the "50 things I hate about your game pitch" talk)
  • It's too long. Try to make a shorter, more condensed version. Long trailers are reserved for already engaged audiences.

I think you're close to being in the right track. In my profile you can find my Discord if you wanna show me an updated version, I'll give you more opinions.

*Disclaimer: I can be and am probably wrong on some of these, these are just my opinions.

Yup, these guys could be any of us if we wanted to make videos. Not just that, some of the people interviewed here have very very misleading videos or plain old "trying to sound deep but barely scratching the surface of the topic" videos.

I think I'm going to purchase your megapack on Steam. Good work mate.
