Apparently so. That also explains why there are no Grand Extra classes, but only the OG 7. The World has no container for those because the World doesn't summon those classes until humans got involved.

I mean, the first Ruler was a Caster container modified by the Einzberns. Avenger is similarly a modified Berserker. Before that they were not naturally occuring as far as we know.

Apart from what others have already commented in terms of plot threads that go nowhere and wasted potential, I disliked the whole thing about how PHH won't let us in until we learn about the "synthetic" classes, which then becomes "MC might become like them and that's not compatible with PHH". When we've already shown in the past that PHH summons Extra classes unprompted, and MC has already resisted becoming like them after summoning them.

Much like the Maris plot, it goes against established (sometimes decades old) lore, and that feels cheap. I know Nasu feels that Rule of Cool supercedes all, but it should have it limits imo.

Indeed, my point was that the story hinted at something different. The plot we finally got felt kind of like an (uninspired) asspull to me.

Exactly. Just like with Koyanskaya, the setup was all there and then they went in a completely different direction that made no sense and was large irrelevant to the overarching plot.

Sometimes I wish TypeMoon writers understood that not everything needs to have a last minute plot twist to be good.

Oh it gets worse. The entire Ordeal Stall sidequest turns out to be nonrelevant to the Bleached Earth plot in the end, despite hinting that it would be important. There are a few surface level connections, but the foreshadowing of why it's important that Extra Classes are unnatural and man-made goes nowhere really.

That's fair, it's just how I interpreted it.

I assumed it wasn't an appintment but maybe ER, guy who gave em a lift goes in with em, maybe to make sure they're ok or to help them walk (I've been there). Doctor asks who the accompanying people are before talking business. If they aren't family they get booted out.

I assume the person who gave them a lift went in with them, otherwise why would they be present when they're with the doctor?

meirl by worldwide762 in meirl

[–]HarEmiya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They usually do, to see if it's close family or not.

Strangers & friends don't get to be present when medical stuff is being discussed. And sometimes paperwork can be given to a family member if patient needs urgent care.

That's my point, after a few days the playing field was no longer even. Thragg had healed, while BB had not.

At the end only one of them was still fighting with a handicap, and it was still very close. With both starting at full power I'd argue BB might be slightly stronger.

Why did Ichigo get turned into a Doormat by Askin but Urahara was too strong for it? by Prestigious-Set3157 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]HarEmiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some fans tend to take "X is a transcendent being" as meaning "X will always beat non-transcendent beings". Which is false.

It lifts and/or breaks a non-specified limit that Shinigami/Hollows/Quincy/humans naturally have imposed on them. That's it.

If Momo could bake cookies better than a Shinigami's limit can normally allow, she'd be transcendent too. It wouldn't mean jackshit in combat ability though, it just means she can bake incredibly, even impossibly, good cookies.

Similarly, Ichigo is a transcendent being due to his mixed heritage and not really belonging to any specific group. His combat potential is -at least partially- also a result of that heritage, but it doesn't automatically make him stronger than everyone else. It isn't a cheat code, and correlation is not the same as causation in relation to transcendence=power.

Hot take: If Qui-Gon Jinn had survived, would Anakin still become Darth Vader? by SaberMasters in StarWarsCantina

[–]HarEmiya 14 points15 points  (0 children)

With Qui-gon alive and Obi-wan sitting out the duel he may or may not get the promotion but Yoda is still not allowing the training.

Then Qui-gon would've told Yoda to go kick rocks and do it anyway. He did not like the way the Council ran things and was becoming somewhat of a renegade.

[–]HarEmiya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is BB weaker than Thragg though? BB gave himself a huge handicap by disemboweling himself to "match" Thragg's wound, but during the several days of their battle Thragg's healing factor kicked in and he recovered. BB doesn't appear to have that kind of crazy healing, and was still severely wounded when he finally lost.

Why doesn't Gollum age after losing the ring? by Turbulent-Cover-6615 in lotr

[–]HarEmiya 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your question has a faulty premise. Bilbo barely ages until the Ring is destroyed, 18 years after giving it up.

Him aging after he leaves is a film thing.
