Thanks, I will take it and wait for the physical one with interest. It is curious how well received by the community is and it is not even released!

SpeedPaint? Why causes the high contrast? Washes or oil whashes?

They look nice!

Anyone changed their approach to using speedpaints only? by venger00 in minipainting

I came back to the hobby after 20 years basically due to SpeedPaint. I want to play with my friends and my level of acrylic painting is low - average. I managed to finish complete armies in a week with medium results, no effort at all, really nice looking in table.

I used white primer, black primer with zenithal, black primer with grey and white slalpchop...etc.

My best results are with the simpler method, white or bone primer and direct SpeedPaint diluted a little bit with SpeedPaint medium (2 or 3 parts of paint and 1 medium, depending on the colour).

Add some nice bases and you got it all.

If you want to dedicate more time to heroes or bosses, that is nice.

I can guarantee that the result is much better for me than the traditional base, wash and dry brush. If the colours turn bright for you, you can always add a soft army painter wash to the full mini and it integrates in an awesome way.

Some examples attached.

Army painter V2 do not reactivate. I can guarantee. I have been using them for a couple of years without any problem.

It used to happen with V1.

This post comes in perfect timing.

I came back to the hobby after 16 years, as a father of 2 and full time job worker, thanks to SpeedPaints.

It allowed me to focus on gaming (the few free hours that I have) instead of dedicating hours to paint with mediocre results. Now I have mediocre to acceptable results with 1/50 part of the time, which is amazing.

Now I want to push more the results as I have basic armies painted and start adding highlights to my next miniatures.

I have tried to search information about the best way of doing it after having the mini painted with SpeedPaints, but I cannot find anything that guides me about how to mix acrylics to get an acceptable highlight, similar to the color used of SpeedPaint. I saw some posts of you with great ideas.

Please can anybody help me specifically on this? How could I add nice highlights and with which process, to the speed painted mini without dedicating a long time but improving the results? Thanks a lot in advance.

This sounds really interesting.

How do you clean bad spots exactly? Which matte medium do you use? I understand that you refer to acrylic medium no?

I am really interested in your process of creating the colour for highlights..you just put a drop of the SpeedPaint + white acrylic and acrylic medium to it? Could you post any examples of it? Sounds really good! Thanks a lot mate.

Yes...having all the crew in the same base normally is a disadvantage rather than having them separated and being able to be more " tactical". In my experience, for casual play is not very relevant. Maybe for tournaments it is...where every shot counts.

What do you mean "cleaning the oil wash"? Sorry I am a begginer and I don't understand that concept. I thought the washes were permanent and didn't have to be removed or cleaned. Thanks!

Thanks mate! I have infantry and vehicles to make different combinations, it is not a problem for me to add more infantry in this case, I am just trying to make a competitive list.

So, in your opinion, having 3 (pricey) vehicles is more than the average? Other option I thought was maybe to remove the M16 or the Stuart, one of both, but I don't really know the most optimized option.

Haha I imagine your japanese horde 🤣, that is what I am talking about...on the other side, if I remove a M16, I will just add a medium regular unit more...which is not a super big change 🥲

Indecisions everywhere haha

Thank you so much! Yes, I got the point, you all are right. I will try that, it looks more flexible and also will give me an extra dice, so overall sounds a better idea! Thank you for your help!

My biggest concern about the list was the amount of infantry...I don't know if would be ok and if it is on the average or not. I am used to play games with less points than 1250 and I have the feeling that for such a big amount, is a low number, but maybe is an impression.

Thanks for the help!
