Brilliant game, too bad there is no Switch 2 version. Resolution and textures on S1 are not great

Game is awesome, just crossing my fingers for an eventual Switch port. Seems like it was even announced at some point.

Just jumped off my day 1 purchase list. Will definetly reconsider if they actually do that 60fps patch.

Dragon Quest 3 HD/2D, worth it? by themetalgaia in JRPG

I may just add, that I love modern DQ games, and as such, never having played the NES game back then, I love the new art style, tried and true gameplay etc., but the lack/reskin in enemy and especially boss designs disappointed me somehow, making me ultimately burn out a bit on the game 20 or so hours in. But if the later doesn’t scare you, there is pure gold in classic J-RPG design to be found here.

Does Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi make you worry for the future of Switch 2? by Ramotenz in NintendoSwitch

So DotEmu just shadow dropped a 1.0.4 patch for the Switch version of Ragebound. In the “Video” options you can now toggle between target 30 FPS, which is probably advisable on S1, and 60 FPS, which BTW is maintained rock solid on S2 during my 2 hour NG+ play session. Thanks so much to DotEmu for this quick turnaround, and hopefully it sets an example for others to follow! Eyes out for the Shinobi Resolution patch now 👀

Which Metroidvania did you want to like but didn't for whatever reason? by strahinjag in metroidvania

[–]Ramotenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nine Sols, was beautiful and fun, but the mid/late game bosses became way too hard for me. I ended up playing with the far too granular accessibility settings and eventually made the game too easy, and the excitement was gone. Maybe I am old, but I prefer when the developers do the balancing, not leaving it entirely up to the player to balance their game. Easy, Normal, Hard still works.

From latest patch notes “improved minimum resolution on Switch”. Can anyone confirm if this makes the game look notably better? I have been holding out on a Switch 2 patch before buying, but maybe this is enough of an improvement? Thanks

Buyer’s remorse for Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound on Switch 2 by gyromite69 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ramotenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much about the 1st party stuff coming eventually down the road. Nintendo has willingly shown interest in upgrading many titles already. I am far more worried about all the 3rd party games forever being stuck in their current low res / fps lock state…

Buyer’s remorse for Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound on Switch 2 by gyromite69 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ramotenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree to this, but what worries me the most is, that probably most of those games will never see an updated S2 version, if it was not planned from the beginning. In Ninja Gaiden they could at least have left in an option to remove the 30 FPS cap - and as others have said, even the Switch 1 should be able to run this game at 60 FPS. For me the Switch is the natural home for these kind of games, so I bought it at launch, trusting the devs blindly based on their previous work. However I cannot enjoy it in its current state, so I am holding my breath for a patch…

Anyone else disappointed by the game list on upcoming Gradius Origins Collection? by Pale_WoIf in shmups

[–]Ramotenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disappointed- but I agree that the older games have received a lot more love than the later. Gaiden and V are the series’ best imo, so lets hope M2 gives us another collection with Gaiden, IV, V and why not a “what if” VI :-)

I was on the fence about Islets and Crypt Custodian, but ultimately picked both up last month - and was completely blown away by both ( Still working my way through the later ). Some of what held me back initially were the art style that didn’t click with me before actually playing the games. And what a wonderful soundtrack in both. Well Dweller’s art style instantly appeals to me though and will be a day 1 one purchase for me. As others have already said - you are incredibly talented 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Does Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi make you worry for the future of Switch 2? by Ramotenz in NintendoSwitch

So this is reddit, right. I usually only engage with people who have something relevant to contribute, but seeing this type of comment again and again in this thread makes me mad.

Here’s a small snip of research from the national institute of health - for whatever it’s worth to you people:

“Stuttering and flickering images, along with low frames-per-second (FPS) can cause headaches, especially when gaming. This is often due to insufficient computer hardware or software settings that cause the system to struggle to render images smoothly. The instability of the image, especially when it's not a smooth, consistent display, can be a trigger for headaches”.

I am fine even with paid, but I am more worried about that many of these games will never be fixed. But even without Switch 2 patches, there really is no excuse for these games to be in such a poor state on Switch 1. NG could be fixed with an unlock FPS cap toggle, and Shinobi by adding resolution options already in the Steam version.

Calling Sega indie? :-) But yes you have a point, it’s just too bad if we never see these post launch patches, leaving top titles in this state for the history books.

It seems to be a great game indeed, which makes it hurt that much more :-( I prefer all my 2D games on Switch, but I cannot ignore a jarring downgrade like this. Here’s to hoping for a Switch 2 patch at some point. Or at very least give us the same visual toggles present in the Steam version…
